Hallo meine Lieben,
my friend Celeste tagged me and so today I am answering some book related questions. As you probably know, I am a huge book worm. I would love to read your answers as well, so please join the fun! You can read Martha's answers here.
1. What is the first book you remember reading?
"Das alte Haus" (the old house), a collection of wonderful stories which all take place at Grandma's old house where she lives with her old dog Bautz, her very old rooster Krahks and her very very old cat Murks. The book was first published in 1923. My parents always read it for me before I was able to do that myself. I guess I have read that book at least 100 times during my childhood. And I am happy that I still own it.
2. What books make up your childhood?
The stories about "Die Drei Fragezeichen" (The Three Investigators). There are at least over a hundred books. I guess I have always been into crime: Jupiter (in German "Justus), Peter and Bob are teenage detectives and they solve crimes with the help of Alfred Hitchcock. I collected the books when I was a child and I have to admit that I still buy them when I see one at a flea market. Obviously there are lots of other books but those were the first ones to come into my mind.
3. What’s the first series of books you devoured?
Well, I guess I answered this already. But aside from The Three Investigators I also loved the TKKG series, also about some junior detectives. Oh and of course "Der kleine Vampir" (the little vampire), a book series about a boy who finds a friend in the little vampire Rüdiger. I even named one of my cats after Rüdiger's brother Lumpi.
4. What books have you, or could you, read over and over again?
Oh seriously? I always read books several times when I really love them. So all the books I mentioned above plus the Harry Potter series, the Adrian Mole diaries, the diaries of Nick Twisp, all Mankell, Nesser, Indridason... crime novels, non-fiction books about serial killers, Lord of The Rings....
5. What books take you back to a certain point in your life and why?
All of them remind me of something. But I guess the Mankell novels have a special meaning for me because they remind me of my Mom. My Mom started reading them at some point, I became interested and so we both sat there together reading those crime novels when I was a teenager.
6. What book changed your life, or could at least change someone elses?
I don't think I can answer this by naming just one book. I mean, I feel that all the books I have read had an impact on my life and made me the person I am now.
7. If you could only read one book for the rest of your life, which book would it be?
I really really hope that I never have to make this decision. I am happy that there are millions of wonderful books out there and I am looking forward to eternity as a ghost where I will find the time to read all of them.
Do you want to join in and answer those questions too? I would love to read your answers!
Have a fantastic week!
I love books too! No words can describe my love for them :)
ReplyDeleteBooks are fantastic! Glad you share that passion! :)
DeleteIt's so sweet that you shared the love of books with your mum, what a beautiful bond! Thanks so much for answering the questions!
ReplyDeleteThank you for tagging me! My mom and I have a lot in common and that means so much to me!
DeleteLove this post! :) Books are something very special to me, too. I couldn't live without books, seriously. My childhood books were the series of the black stallion (also the first book I remember reading), Hanni und Nanni :) and soooooooooooo many others. I went to the library once a week and would read any book in about 3 days.
ReplyDeleteJust like Celeste I love that you were reading with your Mom, what a wonderful thing to do. Keith and I love reading together, it's something very very special to me to be able to share a book with someone at the same time.
I hope you're having a wonderful week!
Ich drücke Dich ganz, ganz dolle, liebe Katrin :) <3
Glad you like it, Beate! Books are so fantastic, they mean so much to me and being without books would be terrible! Oh, I remember the books you mentioned. :) So great!

It's wonderful that you and your mom both loved the same books!
ReplyDeleteThank you. :) It really means a lot to me. We have so many things in common, I guess I am clearly her daughter. :)
DeleteI love this! I will definitely steal it at some point.
ReplyDeleteMy dad had some of the Three Investigators books, but they weren't really popular when I was young so I've only read a few. I read Enid Blyton's Famous Five instead.
Oh, I would loooove to read your answers!
DeleteI totally forgot to mention the Famous Five! I love them! I have so many books and plays! I always wanted to be George!
This was such a fun idea! I love your answers.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I am glad you like them! I would love to read yours! :))
DeleteWhat an interesting book-related questionaire, I’ve never read a post like this before, but it’s fun to learn more about your book interests! I agree with #6, all books I’ve read definitely made a difference such as animal rights documentary, etc.
ReplyDeleteI am glad you liked the questionnaire, Rika. I really love books and I could never imagine a life without them!
