Hallo meine Lieben,
I know, I know. It's been forever. I have so many ideas and things I want to talk about, I just never find the time. But I do need to take the time. That's for sure. I love reading your blogs but I need to come up with some content myself.
It's not a secret that I am a bookworm. So I am pretty ashamed to say that I am far behind my Goodreads reading challenge goal. As you can see, I do not find the time for blogging or for books. I do try to squeeze in some time here and there....for example during lunch. But it nearly isn't enough. Which means that I started a bunch of books but haven't finished many recently.
But here are the books I am currently reading. More or less.
This is me reading, by the way.
Will Travel for Vegan Food by Kristin Lejeunesse
When I heard about the existence of this book I had to get it immediately. It was impossible to get the paperback in Germany by the way so I bought the ebook. It's about a woman who travels through America in a van trying all the vegan food options she can find. So it is a book about traveling and vegan food. You could only top this by adding a feline sidekick to the story but I guess that is more than I can ask for. I am almost finished with this one ( so there is still a silver lining on the horizon for me) and I am loving it. I definitely recommend this book, even when you are not vegan.
Verheißung by Jussi Adler-Olsen
I think this one is called "The Hanging Girl" in English and will get published in September. I love all the Department Q novels which is why it almost killed me to wait for the 6th book. So I am reading this one very slowly. On purpose. Because I do not want to be without a Carl Mørck crime novel again. That might not make sense to anybody but I guess it only has to make sense for me. I want to check out the movies, I think there are two so far. But I am scared that they might not be as good as I hope. Plus Carl Mørck does not look at all the way I imagined him. Why do they do that to me. But yeah, if you like crime novels and have not read the Department Q novels yet, then you have to start immediately. Please.
Verwesung by Simon Beckett
This one is called "The Calling of the Grave" in English and it's the 4th book (and so far the last) of the David Hunter series. David Hunter is a forensic anthropologist who has the tendency to go on my nerves here and there but his cases are really interesting, really brutal and they also make me feel like I can learn something while reading. The third book clearly was the weakest of the series for me so I am having high hopes for this one. I am only 100 pages in so far and I surely hope that there will be a 5th book at some point but I could not find any information about it. This one is about a psychotic rapist and serial killer so it surely sounds promising. And maybe no animal has to die in this one. There are too many dead animals in the other books, especially the first one. Something that always bothers me.
Cat Daddy: What the World's Most Incorrigible Cat Taught Me About Life, Love, and Coming Clean by Jackson Galaxy
As a crazy cat (and bunny) lady I love to watch the show My Cat From Hell so I wanted to learn more about that cool dude who goes to the houses of strange people to help them with their cats. I want Jackson to come to my house and meet my cats. Even though they are not from hell. That guy has been through a lot in his life and it clearly is fascinating to read about it. I definitely want to check out his book "Catification: Designing a Happy and Stylish Home for Your Cat" as well. That guy wears shirts that say "Real men love cats" so what's not to love here?
So those are only 4 of the books I am reading right now. If we are Goodreads friends (add me!) then you can see that there are more.
There also are huge piles of books in my living room and bed room which are waiting for me to start reading them. I really have no idea when to read them all plus I cannot stop myself from buying new books. So of course, if you have any recommendations, keep them coming!
The books on my piles include:
Our Endless Numbered Days by Claire Fuller, The Humans by Matt Haig, The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin, Norwegian by Night by Derek B. Miller and so many books more that I need to go and buy a new bookshelf as soon as possible.
What are you currently reading?
Have a lovely Sunday!
Aww, Cat Daddy and Will Travel for Vegan Food sound like really good comfort reading.
ReplyDeleteI also don have the time to read, but I a enjoying Nuanua which is a collection of short stories and poems by Oceania writers (Fijian, Maori, Aboriginal etc)
I started Desert by JMG Le Clézio but it's pretty heavy reading with everything else in my life. Also need to finish Freakonimics and start The Devil and Miss Prym.
You would definitely enjoy both of the books as well! They are really fun reads!
DeleteThank you for your recommendations, I will check them out. The short stories sound very interesting. I can imagine that you are not finding much time to read at the moment. Hope that will change soon! <3
Ha! That kitty! Long gone are the days I have time to read.. but hopefully they come back, one day.. soon.
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute kitty! <3 I surely hope that you will be able to find some time to read at some point soon. :)
DeleteNope, time not found! :D Not yet, though I got 2 new Kellerman's pending in my kindle and I miss those detectives!
DeleteI really hope you can read them soon! Detective stories are always great!
DeleteI have that Simon Beckett book on my bookshelf. The woman who owns the secondhand bookstore that I frequent recommended it. Then, I realized it was a series, so I pushed it aside for other books. Since you like it, I'm sure I will too!
ReplyDeleteYeah, there are 4 books in the series so far. I clearly think that you would enjoy them as well. The third book was the weakest in my opinion. And there are some dead animals in the books, especially in the first one. So be prepared!
DeleteI have a pile of unread book too. I just finished 'One thing stolen' by Beth Kephart, it's not a mystery but the wirting is great and there is Florence Italy, history, some mystery, though it is category under YA books.
ReplyDeleteI would recommend more except I couldn't seem to finish reading any more books. I actually have started on many books but could not finish them.
anyway, I hope you have a lovely day.
I am glad I am not the only one with a huge pile of books waiting to be read. That book you mentioned sounds really interesting!
DeleteI will definitely check it out, it sounds like something I would enjoy as well.
Like you, I started a bunch of books but have not finished them yet. I really have to find some more time!
Have a lovely week, Lissa! <3
oh I'm the same, I feel like I've hardly read any books this year and I have SO many I want to read!!
ReplyDeleteIt's a shame, isn't it!? We really need to find more time to read, there are so many great books waiting for me!
DeleteOoh, vegan food and travel in one book? I agree an animal would improve it even more but hey, it sounds good all the same. :)
ReplyDeleteI've been struggling to find time to read lately, so I feel your pain! It seems like there's always something that needs to be done. And my TBR list just keeps growing. :)
You would surely love that vegan/travel book! Maybe there will be an animal later on, we will see. :) Hope you can check it out at some point!
DeleteI am glad I am not the only one who rarely finds time to read. I am sure you have read a lot more books this year though. :) Hope I can catch up with my challenge soon!
Hi Katrin
ReplyDeletegood luck with the book challenge!
Thank you so much, Ankita!
DeleteThat's a lot of books to be part way through! How do you keep up with so many plots at once?
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I really don't know. I can't explain it. I guess I am often in a mood for different books and that is why I have to keep doing this. :) Sounds like a huge mess, I guess.
Deletetotally off subject, but i found you! well, i wasn't looking but i stumbled across your name from one of your comments and got a little overly excited! i disappeared for awhile, came back and was trying to find my niche... and here i am!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad to have you back! I really missed you and I am so glad you found me again! <3

Dear Katrin, I've missed meeting you here in blogland so much. But I see you haven't gotten to be around as often either. I hope you are doing well and that the stress is not getting to you. I know what it feels like not to find time for books or blogs.
ReplyDeleteLove that cat crawling on the head clip :) So cute!
All for of these books sound amazing. I finally started reading again and I'm enjoying it beyond words. I missed it so much.
Right now I'm reading "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" and one of the books written by the Dalai Lama (very inspiring!).
Ich drücke Dich ganz feste und dolle und gaaaanz lange. Ich wünsche Dir ein wunderschönes Wochenende, liebste Katrin.
Beate <3
I did not find the time to blog at all. It is really embarrassing but I am working on a new blog post and I really want to come up with a post on a regular basis again. I love blogging and I really want to stick to it.
DeleteI loved The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo very much! I also enjoyed the movie although I have not seen the Hollywood version, only the original Swedish one. I have so many books waiting for me and I hope to read them all soon.
Hope you are having a lovely Sunday! Ich drueck Dich ganz ganz dolle! <3
