Sunday Confessions. Plastic hair, rain worms and sweaters.

Hallo meine Lieben,

I am linking up with the wonderful Alyx from Every Day Is A New Adventure for the last confessions in 2012.

Confession #1.

I don't really care that much about New Year's Eve. I don't care if it is 2012 or 2013, I don't really have any resolutions, there are just things I want to do that make my happy. But that has nothing to do with one year ending and the other one beginning.

Confession #2.

When I see a rainworm on the sidewalk or the street then I stop, pick the rainworm up and bring him/her to a safe place. I really like all animals and I can't see them in danger.

Confession #3.

I am pretty sure that Patrick Jane's hair (the main guy from The Mentalist) feels like plastic because that is what he told me in my dream a couple of nights ago.

source

Confession #4.

One of my friends is pregnant and her doctor says that the baby will probably be born July 13 which is my birthday too. So I am counting on that baby to be in time!

Confession #5.

My next big project is to sew my own sweater. I got literature about sewing and now I just need to figure out how my Mom's old sewing machine works.

What are your confessions?
I hope you will have a wonderful New Year's Eve and an even more wonderful 2013! Thanks for being there, friends!

New Year's plans and hopes. Random Thursday.

Hallo meine Lieben,

I hope you all survived Christmas and got some nice presents. I also hope that your holidays were not stressful at all, you got some good food and you laughed a lot.

I am linking up with some wonderful ladies....

... and the topic is...

To be honest I haven't really thought about this topic yet.

I have never really been a fan of huge New Year's Eve parties so my evening is usually pretty relaxed. There is one thing that I do every New Year's Eve. It is a tradition and it never gets old.

source

Dinner for one. I don't know if that's popular outside of Europe (David did not know it.) but I watched it the first time when I was a kid with your parents and I never stopped laughing about it. I watch it at least twice every New Year's Eve and I laugh as much as I did the first time. It is just hilarious. Please, watch it if you don't know it. You won't regret it.
So yeah, this is a must every year. Same procedure as every year, James.

As for plans....hmm...well, I guess the usual. Be succesful, earn money, be nice to people, be a good person and so on.

But there are some little things that I want to get better at in 2013.

I want to get more involved again in animal rights acitivism. I miss doing that. I would love to be able to offer a dog a new home. And a blind cat. That would be my dream. I would love to go to more demos, write more about animal rights, donate more money. Things like that.

source

I also want to find more time to be creative. I miss that too. I just don't have much time right now, not even in the evening. But I need to make some time for that because it makes me feel good. I want to sew my own clothes, I want to build my own book shelf, write a book...things like that.

source

I want to spend lots of quality time with David, the pets and my loved ones. I just want to try to be as happy as I can.

What are your plans and hopes for the year 2013?
Enjoy the last days of 2012!

Sunday Confessions! Spiders, Steve-O and an engagement.

Hallo meine Lieben,

happy last Sunday before Christmas and happy Vierter Advent! I hope you all have your presents by now!

I am linking up with wonderful Alyx from Every Day Is A New Adventure for some more confessions. The second last confessions for this year.

Confession #1.

When I find a spider in one of the rooms I bring him or her into the basement because I don't want the spider to be outside in the cold. They can all stay in the basement where it is warm and go back outside when it is warmer.

Confession #2.

David is recording some new songs and I have to say that he is so damn good. I could never do anything like that.

Confession #3.

My sister-in-law got engaged yesterday and I am so excited and happy for them. And I can't wait to celebrate their wedding!

Confession #4.

Steve-O really touched my heart with his short film. Please watch this video.

Confession #5.

The weirdest thing I have heard this week is that only good people with guns can protect you from bad people with guns. Yeah, that's the solution! More guns. And so good that every person with a gun has a sign on his or her forehead that tells you if the person is good or bad.

I hope you guys are having a wonderful Sunday!

All things Christmas....Random Thursday!

Hallo meine Lieben,

are you having a nice week? I really hope you don't have any Christmas stress. Did you get all your presents? Or are you still searching for some?

I am linking up with these wonderful girls....

and this week's topic is very christmassy.

I have to admit that I am not a huge fan of Christmas since my Mom died. It is just always so depressing to not have her anymore because we always prepared the Christmas dinner together, put up the Christmas tree together, watched Dirty Dancing together...and so on.
So yeah, Christmas, not my favorite day.

But I don't want to ruin the topic.

So last year I had a pretty cool Christmas! My first American Christmas! It was a wonderful experience.
It was funny to do the presents on December 25 and not Christmas Eve like we do it in Germany. But I had a wonderful time with my American family! We ate a lot, played Wii, watched movies, talked a lot. It was a great relaxing day!

And here are some things that I associate with Christmas.

... lots of eating.

... watching movies. Especially Love Actually, The Holiday and Dirty Dancing.

Also, David introduced me to so many American Christmas movies. It was awesome. We made a very long list with movies that I need to know and we watched all of them. It was so much fun.

... being lazy. Sleeping, reading, TV and so on.

... being thankful for the wonderful people in your life.

... have a Christmas drink. I am still German.

One time when I was a kid my bunny Knuffi tried to eat the Christmas tree....the end of the story was that he knocked down the whole tree with all the decoration. Knuffi was fine though. The tree did not hit him!

What are your Christmas traditions?
Have a lovely day!

Ten On Tuesday. My favorites of the year. Part 1.

Hallo meine Lieben,

time for another Ten On Tuesday with Lin and Amber! Thanks so much for hosting, girls! You rock!

And I thought it might be a nice idea to make a list with my favorite things in 2012. You know, because it is the end of the year and that's what you do when a year ends.

1. Favorite event of the year.

Being married to my awesome David for a year already! What can I say...he rocks and makes me happy! So I can't wait for more anniversaries!

2. Favorite show of the year.

I am just talking about shows that started this year, I still have my all time favorites. There are many new good shows this year. I guess Mindy project and Ben & Kate are in my top 5 but my favorite new show is Go On.
I love that show. It makes me laugh and cry, the characters are fantastic and Matthew Perry is so great in his role as widower. Daumen hoch!

3. Favorite smell of the year.

The smell of stones after a rain shower. I can't describe how that smells but it is so refreshing and makes me smile. Will always be one of my favorite smells.

4. Favorite singer of the year.

Robbie Williams! So glad he is back! He has grown so much and I can't get enough of him. It is not even my favorite music genre but I really like what he does. And it is time for another Robbie Williams concert.

5. Favorite beauty product of the year.

I guess it is no surprise that my favorite beauty product is from Lush. Sympathy for the skin. Perfect for my dry skin and it smells incredible.

6. Favorite writer of the year.

Yrsa Sigurdardottir. I discovered her books this year. She is an Icelandic writer and her books are the perfect mixture between crime and mystery.

7. Favorite magazine of the year.

Neon! Perfect mixture of topics. But I also discovered my love for magazines about anything handmade. So much inspiration!

8. Favorite food of the year.

Potatoes. My every year favorite. You can't beat potatoes. And there are so many variations and recipes.

9. Favorite thought of the year.

So many. I wish I could sing is something that i think every day. I love to sing but it sounds horrible. So every time I sing I am glad that nobody can hear me.

10. Favorite thing to do of the year.

Uh again...so many. Spending time with David, the pets, my family and friends, reading, reading, reading, doing artsy things, sleeping, watching shows and movies....I just realized that I sound pretty boring...

What are your favorites of the year 2012? Part 2 will follow.

Enjoy your Tuesday!

PS: I just heard that there was supposed to be a day of silence because of the tragic events that happened last week. I am still saddened and will never forget about it.

Sunday Confessions. Food addictions, holiday sweaters and yogurt-joghurt.

Hallo meine Lieben,

I hope life is treating you in a great way and you are having a wonderful Sunday!
I am linking up with fabulous Alyx from Every Day Is A New Adventure for some confessions, like I do every Sunday.

Confession #1.

I have two new food addictions.
One is cress on bread with some soy margarine. I saw some cress in the store yesterday and immediately wanted to eat nothing else but cress all the time. Don't know why because I probably haven't eaten any cress for over a year. But it's so good that I decided that I need it more often. So I eat that for lunch and dinner.
As for breakfast I have another food addcition which is Müsli with soy yogurt. Sounds boring, tastes great.

                                                                                    source
Confession #2.

I am still cursed. but not as bad as before. At least at the moment. I thought I broke my external hard drive because it did not react anymore. But then I tried to use a new cable and it worked again. What a success.
But David says I should get another hard drive to back up my back-up. I guess he's right. You have to be extra careful when you are cursed.

Confession #3.

I am a little irritated by couples wearing matching holiday sweaters. Maybe it is because I am not used to that. There is no such thing in Germany. But yeah, it is kind of cute.
At least this one.

 source

Confession #4.

I got a book about sewing and I have to say that the first couple of pages look fine but then it gets really confusing. But I guess it is all about learning by doing. My goal is to make my own sweater in 2013 but hopefully it will be more than that.

Confession #5.

It totally confuses me that you write "yogurt" in German like that: Joghurt. So I always spell it wrong now, no matter in what language.

Do you have any confessions to make?
Have a wonderful Sunday!

My Christmas wishlist. Random Thursday.

Hallo meine Lieben,

how is your week going? It's time for another fantastic Random Thursday with these fabulous girls.

This week's topic is very Christmasy.

I have to say that I don't even have a Christmas wishlist. Just things I want to have but don't wish for. First of all because I am saving money for some expensive things and second of all because I am not even in a Christmas mood.

But here are some things that would be nice to own.

                                                                                             source

1. A MacBook Pro.

I destroyed my old laptop because I am cursed. Electronic devices never survive very long in my care. I really don't know why that is so it must be a curse.

2. A fancy camera.

Because I would love to start taking more pictures. You can't do much with an iPhone camera. And something is wrong with my other camera. Cursed, I tell you.
So maybe it is stupid to wish for electronic devices at all.

3. Lush products.

There are so many products on my wish list and I would love to own them all.

4. A book about sewing.

I really want to learn how to sew. Maybe a book could teach me that. I don't know. I want to try.

5. A wonderful home for all animals in need.

I guess most of you already know how much I care about animals.

6. A language course.

I really need to work on my French. It is so bad. I think I forgot everything. I also want to learn Spanish, Icelandic, Swedish, Italian....

What's on your wishlist?
Have a fantastic rest of the week! Can't wait to catch up with you guys!

Ten On Tuesday. Teenage years style, music and concert memories.

Hallo meine Lieben,

how is your week going? Hope you are all having a great time and the weather is fine where ever you are.

I am linking up for some Ten On Tuesday again, now hosted by Lin and Amber! Yay for that!

1. I really really want to catch up with all your lovely blogs as soon as possible. I promise to do that in the next days! I can't wait to read what's going on in your lives!

2. This morning I woke up around 4 am and wasn't able to fall back asleep. I started to watch some shows because watching shows always make me fall asleep no matter how interesting they are. But it did not work last night. So at least I am caught up with Grey's Anatomy now.

3. Does anybody own a drawing tablet? Maybe you can give me some recommendations.

4. I started to watch this video last night and it is so funny. Now I need to watch bloopers of all other shows I like too.
David showed me the video. Glad he found it.

5. "Bloopers" is a really really weird word. At least for a German. I don't know why but it does not sound like a real word.

6. I rediscovered my love for a band called Manic Street Preachers. David says they sound so 90's. I think they just sound awesome.

7. What was your favorite band when you were a teenager? I would love to know! I was a huge fan of Tocotronic, a German Indie rock band and I always dressed like them. Which means I wore Adidas tracksuit tops like these but originally from the 70's.

                                                                                    source

I wore them together with Vans sneakers and cord pants. I loved it and I still have all my vintage Adidas tracksuit tops.

8. How did you dress as a teenager? I know it is nice that I am mostly asking questions instead of telling you something interesting.

9. When I was at the age of 16-18 I spend every single weekend going to concerts with my friends. Even when I did not even know or liked the bands. It was just fun to do it. We bought a cheap train ticket (Wochenend-Ticket. Thank you, Deutsche Bahn!) and traveled to different cities or convinced our parents to drive us.  I think I spend most of my money for train and concert tickets, cd's and books. It was awesome. Except of one time when the guy next to me got punched in the face and started to bleed all over my shirt. Pfui.

10. Don't shop.... adopt!

Have a wonderful weekend, my friends! I am thinking of you guys!

Sunday Confessions. Lack of time, Christmas cookies and sewing skills.

Hallo meine Lieben,

how is your Sunday going? Do you have snow? Or how is the weather where you live?

Well, no matter what season you have, I am linking up with fabulous Alyx from Every Day Is A New Adventure for some Sunday Confessions.

Confession #1.

I really wish I'd have more time for blogging. My blog is so boring at the moment. There are so many things I want to share with you, so many pictures...there are so many creative ideas that I want to work on and share with you, I have so many topics to talk about. But I barely have time to spend a lot of time blogging at the moment. I apologize for that and I hope you won't leave me. I promise this will change and the blog will be more interesting. Thanks for sticking with me. You rock!

Confession #2.

I am thinking about trying to sew my own clothes because I have so many ideas but I have no idea how to start. I have no idea how to sew. I have an old sewing machine from my mom but no knowledge about sewing at all. Maybe I should start by taking some sewing lessons.  I would really like to learn that.

Confession #3.

I planned to bake some Christmas cookies this weekend but did not make any so far. I am lame. Maybe next weekend.

Confession #4.

It makes me sick that I am not able to help every poor animal on earth. I feel so helpless.

Confession #5.

When I really love a song then I listen to it over and over again. 50 times in a row. And it does not ruin the song at all.

What do you have to confess? How is your weekend going?

My bizarre food combos. Random Thursday.

Hallo meine Lieben,

it is Thursday again. Which means it is time to link up with some fabulous ladies to talk about a cool topic.
These are the ladies.

And that's the topic.

Hmm, well. I think I ate a lot more weird stuff when I was a kid. My stomach is pretty bad ass so I can eat a lot of stuff without getting sick.

One weird thing is that I love onion chips. You need to know that I hate onions. They are the worst food ever. I can't stand the taste, the smell, the look, the texture. They make me throw up. I mean it. I would never eat anything that contains onions. Except of onion chips. Love the taste, don't know why. But in my opinion, they have nothing in common with regular onions. They don't smell like onions, they don't taste like onions, don't look like onions. You could call them gillutizipi chips and it would be fine.
So yeah, that's the only way I could ever eat onions.
Pfui, onions.

Okay, that's not a weird combination yet.
So: I really like to dip onion chips into vanilla soy yogurt. It tastes delicious. Believe me.
I guess that counts as a weird combination.

You can use vanilla soy yogurt for pretty much anything. I recently made a vanilla chili dip which was delicious. I also use it for salad dressing.

When I was a kid I liked cheese with Nutella. Or carotts with chocolate sauce. Or pasta with brown sugar and fruits.

I really feel like I need to try some new exciting combos. Any recommendations?

Have a lovely Thursday!

Ten On Tuesday. Vampire-dogs, zombies and books.

Hallo Ihr Lieben,

how are you doing? Thank you so much for reading and being such awesome friends. Really. You guys rock!

Lin can't host the Ten On Tuesday this week so Amber is taking over this week! Thanks Amber! And Lin, I am thinking of you!

So here are the ten random things I need to tell you this week.

One.

I am a little sad about the midseason finale of The Walking Dead. I don't really want to wait until February to see more.
On the other hand, I have so much other stuff to watch that I won't get bored.

Two.

I am a very impatient person.

Three.

Andrea is so going on my nerves. She wasn't that stupid in the first season. Am I right? I really hope she will finally do something good and rescue Daryl from the shitty Governor. The show Governor does not look like the comic Governor at all.

Four.

I like starting fires. I just can't help myself. But I am also very scared of fire. Kind of a childhood drama. Although nothing bad ever happened.
I know, I don't make sense all the time.

Five.

I like watching Mindy Project but I don't really like Mindy. Is that normal? Not to like the main character of a show?

Six.

I always watch Grey's Anatomy and I don't like the main character either. But I never stopped watching it.

Seven.

I want to learn how to sew my own clothes. I saw some flowery pants and it would be awesome to be able to make my own.

Eight.

I am in love with my new vampire-dog shirt.

                                                                                                 Zara

Nine.

I started to read the new books by Yrsa Sigurdardottir and Hakan Nesser and I love both of them. I wish I'd have more time to read.

Ten.

I find myself really lame today. Excusez-moi. I have a headache.

I hope you are doing fine, my friends! I am thinking of you! Can't wait to catch up with your blogs!

Sunday Confessions. Advent calendar, drawing and animals.

Hallo meine Lieben,

are you enjoying your Sunday? Hope you are all doing great!
I am linking up with the wonderful Alyx from Every Day Is A New Adventure for some Sunday Confessions.

Confession #1.

Sometimes I can barely stand the fact that I live in a world where teenagers burn a hedgehog alive for fun, where millions of male chicken get killed immediately after they were born, where animals are treated like machines and people never learned to treat animals with respects. I can't even describe how this makes me feel. Angry, sad, mad, upset....

Confession #2.

It would really make me happy to have a space to live where I am able to offer a home to all kinds of animals. Donkeys, goats, chicken and so on.

Confession #3.

I have an Advent calendar every year of my life since I was born and I don't plan on changing that. Never ever. I know it is something for kids but I want to have an Advent calendar even when I am 80. I prefer handmade and filled ones.

                                                                                           source

Confession #4.

I started to watch The Mindy Project and I really like the characters, especially nurse Morgan. But I think the theme melody is more than awful.
By the way: Thanks to David for making me watch it! You rock!

Confession #5.

I love drawing but I recently found out that I can't draw bunnies. Other animals yes. But the bunnies I draw look like a kindergarten child drew them.

A question for my German friends:
Did you ever watch "Die Lümmel von der ersten Bank"? Did you like them? I would love to watch them again. I watched them over and over when I was a child.

Have a lovely Sunday!
