My fave store to shop at is...

Hallo meine Lieben,

first of all: Tiffie is doing a lot better and I couldn't be happier! Thanks for all your kind words! It really means a lot to me.

So, it is that time of the week again: Random Thursday. You can sign up here.

And this is the topic.

In general...

Well, my favorite kind of store is definitely a book store. Used, new, small, big...whatever. I love them all and I can spend hours, days in there. And it is better not to interrupt me when I am searching for new books. I also love to discover books online, that is why I love to browse online stores, Goodreads, get recommendations from blogs... But nothing can beat the experience in a real book store...all the shelves, the smell....

I could never imagine not to buy any books. I guess I would rather buy a book than food for myself. I love the smell of books, books entertain me, books make me happy, they make me sad, they excite me...they are just perfect. A life without books and book stores would be pretty sad.

I am also a huge fan of natural foods stores. There are definitely some great ones in America and in Germany as well. It is fun to find some new vegan products I haven't tried before. And it is also so much easier to find some food I like compared to normal grocery stores.

In America.

I have to say that I really love spending time at Target and I can't even tell you why. David does not understand it at all but I love browsing all the shelves, the huge selection...to look for shoes and tea and a running shirt and cosmetics at the same time in the same store. There isn't really anything like that in Germany so every visit in a Target store is pretty exciting for me.

I also love the huge craft stores! So many things to see and buy...again, I have never been to anything like that in Germany. I don't know if stores like that even exist in Germany, definitely not in my area. So I can never leave these stores empty-handed. I need to smell all the candles and then find some art supplies. Perfect way to spend an afternoon.

In Germany.

One of my favorite German stores is definitely "dm" which is probably the biggest drug store chain over there. I love to discover new beauty products and the best thing about this store is the huge vegan and cruelty free selection. You can find pretty much everything there...lipsticks, eye make up, hand creams, face creams, body lotion, shampoo, hair color, even vegan food. It is heavenly there and every time I go there I have to spend some time to discover all the new products.

So, now I would like to know what your favorite stores are? Where do you like to shop? Do you like to shop in real stores or do you prefer online shopping?

Have a lovely day!

  2. I love browsing through bookstores, even multi-floored bookstores, as the pathway to all sorts of books seems endless. Me too, I miss Target, I love their cheap deals at the end of the shelves, plus their colorful artistic sections. DM is my favorite drug store chain, too and they also have that in Austria - I love their vegan soup & pesto selections.

  3. Second-hand book shops are the BEST! There are two amazing ones near where my dad lives in England.

DM is from Karlsruhe, so shopping there allows me to pretend I'm shopping locally, even though it is a chain ;-) But currently I'm enjoying Müller - it only opened in Karlsruhe last year and it's still novel to me that so many different items are sold in a single shop... very un-German!

In England, I looooove Wilkinsons. Everything there is so cheap.

    1. I would love to go to some just books stores in England. :) Have you seen Black Books? I love that show!

Right, dm is from Karlsruhe. :) You really shop locally! :) There is no Müller in my town but when I go to Trier then I always go to that store too. So many things to look at!

I have never heard of Wilkinsons but would love to check it out!

  5. Hi there! I miss dm here a lot! :-( But there are so many other great stores with home interior and baking/cooking stuff I do mind just a little bit.
Usually I love craft stores, book stores, home interior stores, clothes stores, baking/cooking stores, shoe shops. Basically all kinds of shops except technic stuff!

    1. Yeah, I can imagine that there are many fantastic stores to discover in Sweden! You need to keep me updated with your shopping trips. :) I mean, Sweden is more than Ikea and H&M. I love interior stores too!

  6. It funny because I love bookshops like Waterstones in the UK but I don't actually buy books...they just dont fit into my minimalist life. Espically now.

There is a chain called the Natuurwinkle (natural shop) in the Netherlands that has a lot of vegan products, organic shampoo etc, and tea. I like shopping there and actually made a visit today!

Other then that I like to shop at H&M because I can always get my basics really cheap and they usually have everything I need!

    1. I really admire your minimalist style and I definitely want to live more minimalist too but I think I could never stop buying books. I don't know. I just love them too much and I can't resist buying them!

That chain sounds so awesome! I would love to go and shop there! I am sure they have many great products!

I like to shop at H&M too. You always find some good basics!

  7. Book stores rock! I don't mind getting books online if I must but I really prefer to go into the store and handle and smell them all. Online browsing isn't the same.

So glad to hear that Tiffie is better! What a tough little bunny!

  8. Bookstores are also my FAVOURITE kind of stores, particularly quirky local chains. It's my new mission to seek them out when I travel and pick up a few goodies there on the way. You know, kinda like souvenirs?

    1. Yeah, I absolutely know what you mean! I do the same. When I travel somewhere I always try to find some great bookstore and then I HAVE to buy something there which always reminds me of that trip!

  9. I am addicted to Goodreads and book shopping online - it's so much cheaper! I assume you've heard of www.bookdepository.com? Free shipping most anywhere in the world & no minimum order = very happy book lover! I forgot to add craft stores, but I love them. Also love that you used a pick from Black Books - one of my fave shows of all time!

  10. it's defintely easier to order online of cause but there's no replacement for actually touching the product and trying it out in person. I don't have any favorites per say but I do shop at The Strand (a used book store), Barnes & Nobles, since most book shops are closed. Also Uniqlo for clothes.

there are many shops like Target around but strangely, I've never been to a Target store. I imagine it is just as tempting as any stores considering they carry just about almost anything, which is very tempting.

    have a great day.

    1. Yeah, it just feels so much better to be able to take the books in your hands and look into them. You just can't get that feeling online!
I have never heard about Uniqlo! I need to check out what store that is!

Yeah, Target is definitely tempting but I have to say that I usually just go there to look around. :)

      Have a lovely day!
