'Cause, I think I'd rather stay at home.

Hallo meine Lieben,

it's the weekend and I decided not to leave the house at all. Maybe I will make an exception for a short walk in the woods to get some fresh air. But other than that I will just stay in my cozy home and enjoy it as much as possible because sometimes that is just all I need. I already got all the groceries I need so I am prepared. And here are my ingredients for a perfect cozy stay at home weekend... At least for my perfect lazy weekend....

Books - there are two piles of books waiting for me - a real one and an electronic one and my plan is to let those piles shrink a bit. Wish me luck.
Animals - of course there will be a lot of cat and bunny cuddles this weekend. The cats love to cuddle up on the couch and the bunnies love to use me as a mountain and climb on my back, stomach, head, butt....
Shows and movies - I have a lot of catching up to do. I am seriously behind on every show I like to watch (Criminal Minds, Walking Dead, Chicago Fire, Bones...) and there are some "new" ones I wanted to check out for ages. Also I still have no watched The Grand Budapest Hotel but I am planning to do so at some point this weekend. It can't be so hard to watch one damn movie.
Candles - it might sound stupid but there are some candles I bought a long time ago that I still have not lit so I guess it is time. I guess the smell of Christmas is okay all year round.
Closed doors - no matter what happens I won't open the door and I refuse to talk to any strangers, including the mail man.
Baking - I can relax perfectly fine while I bake. Which is why I will make some salted peanut butter chocolate cupcakes - and I am planning to eat them while watching all those shows and reading all those books.
Tea - is there an unhealthy amount of tea you can drink? If so then that's the goal.
All things warm and fuzzy - I will spend the whole weekend wrapped up in a blanket, wearing leggings, fuzzy socks and warm sweaters. Maybe even a scarf and a hat if I feel like it. Anything that keeps me cozy.
Cute videos - I will watch a ridiculous amount of cute animal videos on youtube and CuteOverload.
Bath time - I have some Lush bubble bath bombs that are waiting for me to use them so I guess the weekend will involve some time in the tub.
Recipes - one thing I love to do is to look through vegan cooking blogs and my cook books to get some new inspiration and recipes I want to try next.
Chocolate - because it is always a good idea. I stocked up on vegan Vivani chocolate bars (white nougat with crisps!).
My CD collection - I plan to listen to all the music I loved when I was a teenager (Nirvana, Tocotronic, Suede, Oasis, Blur,  and so on) because I have not done that in a while. Memories... And nobody will hear me sing - which is a good thing considering my talent.
Being creative - I recently started drawing again. Also I surely need to work on my knitting skills (because they are non-existent). And I have to spend some time with my camera.
Food - of course, food is important. I am trying to eat as healthy as possible but there will also be some vegan gummi bears involved. And let's not forget the chocolate.
Magazines - besides the books there are also some magazines waiting to be read. Science, craft, animals, vegan....a lot of variety.
Sleep - sleeping is important so you need to take your time for it. I am an early bird but I still want to make sure to get enough sleep - even when I read all night long.
Books - because they are really important.

What are your plans for the weekend? Are they as exciting as mine or do you have some real plans? Enjoy no matter what!

  5. I'm having a friend over for the weekend so I will be doing some sightseeing around basel, I guess. But staying in is my favourite of spending a Sunday in winter. A hearty brunch, something to read and a movie to watch under a blanket. Some biscuits and a cup of tea make it perfect - though I'm not drinking almost any tea these days and I so miss it now. Life is definitely better with a pot of tea :)

Enjoy your cosy weekend in <3

    2. Having a friend over and doing some sightseeing definitely sounds great as well! I hope you are enjoying it! It snowed quite a bit here today which made it even nicer to be able to just stay inside. :) The way you describe your perfect day at home sounds lovely! And you are right, tea makes life better! I hope you don't miss it too much! Yay for a fellow morning person. :) Enjoy your weekend!

  6. YES!! I love weekends like this! I am a big fan of staying inside when it's cold and just watching movies and reading. I have had The Grand Budapest Hotel saved on my DVR for almost two weeks now. I don't know why I haven't watched it yet either!

    1. Haha, I absolutely love to do the same. I do not open the door, don't answer the phone etc. Sometimes that's just what you need. :) Glad I am not the only one.

    2. It's harder now when there is a toddler that loves to answer the door.. it's hard to pretend no one is home when she's fighting to open the door, haha! ;-)

  11. Hi Katrin! Sometimes an evening at home is just what the doctor ordered. I finally caught up on the Walking Dead and the mid-season finale left me traumatized LOL.

  13. Hello! Just found your blog :) Well, it's the other side of the weekend now but I'm seriously envious of your cat and bunny cuddles (especially the bunny cuddles) and the salted peanut butter chocolate cupcakes; fully approve of your teenage band selection - though it took me another 15 years to discover Tocotronic ;) ... and I am totally with you on the recipes/knitting/camera/tea/Grand Budapest Hotel points. I really need to get that last one in too!

    1. Thank you so much for stopping by, Christie! :) Cat and bunny cuddles clearly are the best! I love spending time with my pets! And the cupcakes are way too good. I cannot stop eating. :) I love that you love Tocotronic as well! They truly are my teenage years heroes. I used to dress like them as well. :) Hope you can watch the movie soon!

  14. that's my plan for the next few days because of the snow storm but I still have to do some work in between but definitely reading, watching shows, eating, and anything that does not require too much work.

sadly, I do not know how to bake or else I would be baking a lot of sweets. and I only know how to knit scarfs because I dislike math because, really, who likes to count stitches while they knit or even calcuate how many stitches equals how many inches? I do not think I have the patience for that.

I would definitely like to see some of your drawings, perhaps you might consider joining the little drawing group, creative tuesdays, sometimes - the link is at my reading list.

hope you have a great day.

    1. I heard about the snow storm. I hope it won't be too bad and you can stay safe and warm! Hope you will have a relaxed time indoors!

Baking isn't so complicated. You should give it a try. I only bake easy recipes, I'll save the complicated ones for later. :) And at least you can knit scarves. I am still trying to finish my first one. :)

Thank you so much, Lissa. I will give it some thought! So far I only drew for myself and never really shared it with anybody. But maybe it is time. :) Thank you!

Have a good week and be safe!

  15. Mmmm, reading and tea sound so good to me right now! I took a little walk today since the sun was shining and the weather was mild, but I didn't talk to anyone. I'm just in a hibernating mood, I guess.

    1. Sounds like a nice walk! I always prefer not to have to talk too much during a walk. Unless I meet some dogs and their owners. :) I often meet a dog called Max and I bring him treats. His owner is an old lady and I always stop to talk to her a bit and cuddle with Max. But I am totally in hibernating mood as well!

  21. It’s freezing out here in Boston, I would love to go back home soon, but my flight’s cancelled today. The weather in America is crazy - west coast with their heavy rains and east coat with their heavy snow…Vegan gummy bears sound really nice now for snack!
