'Cause, I think I'd rather stay at home.

Hallo meine Lieben,

it's the weekend and I decided not to leave the house at all. Maybe I will make an exception for a short walk in the woods to get some fresh air. But other than that I will just stay in my cozy home and enjoy it as much as possible because sometimes that is just all I need. I already got all the groceries I need so I am prepared. And here are my ingredients for a perfect cozy stay at home weekend... At least for my perfect lazy weekend....

Books - there are two piles of books waiting for me - a real one and an electronic one and my plan is to let those piles shrink a bit. Wish me luck.
Animals - of course there will be a lot of cat and bunny cuddles this weekend. The cats love to cuddle up on the couch and the bunnies love to use me as a mountain and climb on my back, stomach, head, butt....
Shows and movies - I have a lot of catching up to do. I am seriously behind on every show I like to watch (Criminal Minds, Walking Dead, Chicago Fire, Bones...) and there are some "new" ones I wanted to check out for ages. Also I still have no watched The Grand Budapest Hotel but I am planning to do so at some point this weekend. It can't be so hard to watch one damn movie.
Candles - it might sound stupid but there are some candles I bought a long time ago that I still have not lit so I guess it is time. I guess the smell of Christmas is okay all year round.
Closed doors - no matter what happens I won't open the door and I refuse to talk to any strangers, including the mail man.
Baking - I can relax perfectly fine while I bake. Which is why I will make some salted peanut butter chocolate cupcakes - and I am planning to eat them while watching all those shows and reading all those books.
Tea - is there an unhealthy amount of tea you can drink? If so then that's the goal.
All things warm and fuzzy - I will spend the whole weekend wrapped up in a blanket, wearing leggings, fuzzy socks and warm sweaters. Maybe even a scarf and a hat if I feel like it. Anything that keeps me cozy.
Cute videos - I will watch a ridiculous amount of cute animal videos on youtube and CuteOverload.
Bath time - I have some Lush bubble bath bombs that are waiting for me to use them so I guess the weekend will involve some time in the tub.
Recipes - one thing I love to do is to look through vegan cooking blogs and my cook books to get some new inspiration and recipes I want to try next.
Chocolate - because it is always a good idea. I stocked up on vegan Vivani chocolate bars (white nougat with crisps!).
My CD collection - I plan to listen to all the music I loved when I was a teenager (Nirvana, Tocotronic, Suede, Oasis, Blur,  and so on) because I have not done that in a while. Memories... And nobody will hear me sing - which is a good thing considering my talent.
Being creative - I recently started drawing again. Also I surely need to work on my knitting skills (because they are non-existent). And I have to spend some time with my camera.
Food - of course, food is important. I am trying to eat as healthy as possible but there will also be some vegan gummi bears involved. And let's not forget the chocolate.
Magazines - besides the books there are also some magazines waiting to be read. Science, craft, animals, vegan....a lot of variety.
Sleep - sleeping is important so you need to take your time for it. I am an early bird but I still want to make sure to get enough sleep - even when I read all night long.
Books - because they are really important.

What are your plans for the weekend? Are they as exciting as mine or do you have some real plans? Enjoy no matter what!

Party never, organic cola and my cat population friends. {Ten On Tuesday}

Hallo meine Lieben,

hope you are all doing great and enjoying your week. You can link up with my friend Alyssa here.

1. I enjoy watching the SciShow which covers topics such as "How do animals re-grow limbs (and why can't we?)?", "How do we measure the distance of stars?", "What happens after you flush?", "Inside the Chernobyl exclusion zone", "The science of chocolate" and "What we do with dead bodies".

2. Roo'Bars taste pretty fantastic. That cola was good as well. 100% organic. Sometimes I really need my sugar.

3. Did you watch ER? If so, which ones was your favorite and least favorite character? I am totally in the mood to re-watch this show. The "problem" is that there are 15 seasons and I won't be able to watch those anytime soon.

4. Saw this on Instagram and it made me laugh.

5. I need to do some fall shopping. I need some new black booties, that's for sure. Also a beanie and a warm sweater would be nice.

6. That's me. Surrounded by books.

7. I discovered a fantastic company called "Animal Hearted" and I feel like I need one of their shirts. You need to show your support for great companies and a great cause. 25% of the proceeds will go directly to fund a no kill animal shelter.

(Not just the cat population...)

8. My current food addiction is anything sweet. It's pretty bad.

9. Last week was Jerry's 11th birthday! I love her!

10. Why do cats usually like the box better than the gift that was in the box?

Have a fantastic rest of the week! Thanks for reading!

The one with the food and book addictions. {Ten On Tuesday}

Hallo meine Lieben,

you can link up for Ten On Tuesday with my friend Alyssa here.

1. You can watch Noddy's (an orang-utan) first day at forest school here (and see lots of other rescued orang-utans).

2. My favorite smoothie consists of a banana, a nectarine, orange juice, cinnamon, a pear and vanilla almond milk.

3. I feel like I need to re-watch ER and Breaking Bad at some point.

4. My current food addictions are Müsli with nuts, chocolate peanut butter, watermelon and vanilla pudding. I don't know why but I always get obsessed with different kinds of foods and then I want to eat nothing else for a couple of weeks.

5. This is my friend Moritz, the mini horse. He loves to eat carrots and apples. I often go and visit him and his friend Helena when I go out for a walk. Spending time with animals always makes me happy.

6. I am still doing my workouts, 5-6 times a week. I originally planned to do them only 3 times a week but it is kind of addictive. Never thought that would happen. Today I did one called "6 week six pack" and it's a pretty mean one. I would not want to do it every single day.

7. Must love books.

8. Tiger loves to sleep. And always looks cute. Animals always make me happy. I am so thankful to have my cats and bunnies in my life. I am hoping to be able to adopt more animals as soon as possible.

9. Before I start to read I make sure to have enough food and drinks around so that I do not have to get up and get interrupted.

10. Sad but true. Meat, milk, eggs....

Thank you for reading! Have a good rest of the week!

The one with the black cats and the baby bats. {Ten On Tuesday}

Hallo meine Lieben,

hope you are all doing great! You can link up with my friend Alyssa here

1. Did you know that every year humans kill approximately 100 million (!) sharks and 5-7 people on average die from shark attacks? (Humane Society International). So who is the predator?

2. Did you celebrate Black Cat Appreciation Day on Sunday? I surely celebrate it every single day because my black cat rules.

3. Martha and I love bats. You can see more pictures and watch a video on Cute Overload, which is one of my favorite sites on the whole internet.

4. I am in love.

5.  I am officially a fan of scones now. I made some last weekend and liked them. I got a new recipe from Martha and  I cannot wait to bake those because they sound even more delicious than the ones I made. I am also craving pancakes.

6. I am currently craving pickles and camomile tea.

7. Some of the exercises in the Jillian Michaels workout are pure evil. They do seem to work because some muscles that I did not even know they existed hurt like crazy. I am sticking to it.

8. A quote.

9. I am officially addicted to "Chicago Fire" because I do not feel like watching anything else right now.

10. Me.

Thank you so much for reading! Have a fantastic rest of the week!

The one with the pangolins, scones and murder mysteries. {Ten On Tuesday}

Hallo meine Lieben,

you can link up with my friend Alyssa here.

1. I went to the bookstore today and found a gazillion more books to add to my reading list. There are just way too many books I am interested in and not enough time to read them all. Sad.

2. Have you read the crime novels by Stuart MacBride? If so, do you like them? I discovered that series in the store today and have no idea why I never checked it out before.

3. I am dying because of all the cuteness.

4. I had a seitan roast on Sunday and it was delicious. I also spilled a whole glass of red wine over a brand new table cloth.

5. Today is World Elephant Day. Elephants are faced by several threats and they need our help and protection.

6. When I go to the bookstore I take pictures of all the covers of the books I want to read so that I can remember to get those books at some point. Am I the only one or is that a normal thing to do? I never see other people doing it.

7. I had peanut and truffle ice cream today and it was delicious. Even the ice cream cone was vegan so you cannot really ask for more.

8. I realized that I never had scones in my entire life so I will bake some vegan apricot ones soon. I have no idea what to expect. I would like to know: what is your favorite pastry/cake/cookie/pie etc.?

9. After finishing the 30 Day Shred I still feel like working out. Not necessarily every day single day of the week but at least a couple of times. I hope this feeling won't stop anytime soon.

10. I confess that I have an unhealthy addiction to the TV show Chicago Fire.

Have a fantastic rest of the week!

Comics, baby armadillos and Sheldon, the bird. {Ten On Tuesday}

Hallo meine Lieben,

hope you are all enjoying your week. You can link up with my friend Alyssa here

1. On Sunday I rescued an orphaned baby bird. It was quite an adventure. I will tell you more about this in another post. I named him Sheldon.

That's me, giving him some water.

2. I finally got an ice cream maker today! Can't wait for my first homemade coconut milk ice cream! Have you ever made your own ice cream?

3. I will learn how to sew now. I wanted to do this forever and now it has to happen.

4. A baby armadillo. I am seriously in love. This video is one of the cutest things I have ever seen.

5. I am also in love with goats. I seriously need to be able to run my own farm sanctuary. If you need to be cheered up then watch this video, especially see what happens after 50 seconds.

6. I love to get book recommendations and I seriously have the best friends! Thank you guys for always thinking of me. That means so much! You rule!

7. I like these comics. They are called Bizarro comics and the artist is called Dan Piraro.  And here are 23 comics that every vegan can relate to

8. I don't know how you feel, but I am kind of ready for fall. It's my favorite season after all.

9. I started to watch "Chicago Fire" and got totally obsessed despite the fact that I am terribly scared of all kinds of fires that are bigger than a candle light or a bonfire.

10. Only 6 more days left of my Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred. I am glad when that's over. Believe me.

Hope you are having a fabulous week!

Fussball madness, zucchini-pizza and a snow goat love. {Ten On Tuesday}

Hallo meine Lieben,

I hope you are all doing fine. Again, I am so sorry for my lack of posts right now. I have so many things I want to tell you about but I just don't find the time right now. So please be patient with me, I will be back soon.
You can link up with lovely Alyssa here.

1. Yay Germany! That game was fantastic. I am really impressed! Hope Mats Hummels won't miss the next game, we need him. Do you guys watch the World Cup? The American team won too so they are now 2nd in their group!

2. I guess during the World Cup (or European Cup) is the only time you see the German flag everywhere. In America I am used to all the flag at every corner but Germans are pretty hesitant to show any love for their country. But there are different rules during an important soccer tournament.

3. Please sign this petition to help end horrific experiments on pregnant sheep. They are injected with alcohol to simulate the effects of binge drinking. When their fetuses are near-term, the sheep are killed and the lambs are removed and killed so that their brains can be studied. Trust me, that does not help any mother or child. They are doing these experiments for more than 17 years and received more than $4 million in federal funding. And for what? To know that alcohol is bad when you are pregnant? I just can't believe the world sometimes....please help by signing and sharing!

4. I started to watch Pretty Little Liars and I never expected it to be that interesting. Can't watch too much though because I have to catch up with my other shows over the summer plus start to watch some of the shows you guys recommended. Thanks for that again!

5. On Sunday I made zucchini-pizza. Or pizza-zucchini. However you want to call it but I used zucchini instead of pizza dough. Pretty tasty.

6. I am so in love with Frostie the snow goat. His story makes me incredibly happy. It is important to see that good things happen too.

7. Yes, why wouldn't we?

8. I ate vanilla ice cream with chocolate and caramel sauce three days in a row. I am trying to tell myself that I totally deserve this but the truth is that I just got totally excited about finding vegan dessert sauces.

9. On Sunday I made a vegan peanut butter cake with mandarin oranges. Unfortunately it tastes way too good.

10. I want to live there. It's George Lucas' library.

Happy Tuesday and thanks for reading!

Random Thursday. My summer TV line-up.

Hallo meine Lieben,

I hope you are all enjoying your week and doing great. I do like to watch TV shows so this week LinEm and I want to talk about the TV show line-up.

I have to admit that I did not put much effort into the summer TV line-up yet. I have no ideas what shows will run during the summer. So I need to figure this out at some point. The problem is that I never have enough time to watch all the shows I would like to. I still have so many shows I need to catch up with. If you have any recommendations though, please let me know.

There are two shows I want to check out. Orange is the new Black is one of them. I absolutely loved the first season. And I enjoy anything crime/prison themed. So this really is a show I will keep watching. I don't really like the main character and her boyfriend but the other characters are very entertaining. Can't wait to see what will happen next.
Another show I want to keep watching is True Blood. Not because it is the greatest show on earth but because it is very entertaining, I can relax while I watch it and it is just pure enjoyment. My guilty pleasure if you want to call it like that.

Speaking of movies: I am not a fan of movies based on books but I need to see "The Fault in our Stars".

There are also so many books I want to read over the summer. Today I discovered that there is a new Erik Winter novel by Åke Edwardson. Score!

So what do you want to watch during the summer?

A day in a duck's life, vegan shoe love and German movie titles. {Ten On Tuesday}

Hallo meine Lieben,

it's Tuesday again and I hope you are all doing great. You can link up with your ten random things at Alyssa's blog

1. If you need your daily dose of cuteness you can watch a video of a day in a duck's life on Cute Overload

2. I might want to have these vegan Toms for summer. I like Toms' One for One model. For every pair of shoes they sell, they donate a pair to a child. I would say that's a good reason to buy a new pair of shoes.

3. I will never understand why "Bent it like Beckham" is called "Kick it like Beckham" in Germany.

4. If you can knit and want to do something good for birds, you should check this out.

5. Not only takes this place at an Irish farm which makes the whole video a must watch, but you can also see a cat mommy who adopts baby ducklings and raises them together with her 3 kittens. You can find this here.

6. This morning I woke up and Lumpi's face was maybe 2cm away from my face. He must have fallen asleep on me during the night and I did not even realize it. I have to say it is definitely nice to wake up and the first thing you see is your cat's sleepy face.

7. So true.

8. I signed up for another course on FutureLearn. Really love that site.

9. I am so glad they renewed Criminal Minds but they cancelled Family Tree. What is wrong with these TV people? Don't they know anything? How dare they? I am mad.

10. I am glad Mother's Day is over for this year.

Have a fantastic week! Thanks for reading!

Five Things. Walking Dead for corgis.

Hallo meine Lieben,

hope you are all enjoying your weekend. Please go and check out my friend Celeste's Five Things as well.

1. These animals.

Found them on Cute Overload and they immediately made me smile. There's another one. Animals are fantastic creatures. They amaze me every single day.

2. This fantastic short film which I found on OCD: Obsessive Corgi Disorder. It has zombies and a hero corgi in it.

3. I started to watch the show Silicon Valley and I am really liking it.

4. Have you read this book? Is so, what do you think? It is next on my to-be-read-list.

Here is what Goodreads says.

Benton Kirby is in a spot of bother...

His life hasn't exactly gone to plan. This is hardly surprising, however, as he never really had one in the first place. Armed with a philosophy degree, a dead fiancée, a brother who drives Death around London in his black cab, and a girlfriend with a history of suicidal pets, Benton - ambitionless and emotionally disengaged - embarks, for no apparent reason, on an affair with a beautiful, sexually adventurous, Korean virgin.

Following a strange snowballing of even stranger events, he finds himself, at last, exactly not where he ever imagined he would be, up a tree at night in the park with a hedgehog...

5. I need this. Because my book collection is getting bigger and bigger.

Have a  happy week!

Five Things. A dog-licking goat, an awkward professor and safari party chocolate.

Hallo meine Lieben,

happy weekend! Hope it is full of sunshine  and fantastic things. Please check out my friend Celeste's Five Things as well.

1. This candy.

Saw all that stuff at the store which stocked up on vegan delicacies (which is very exciting) and could not resist. I had the fruity version of these gummi bear thingies before and they were fantastic so I can't wait to try the cola ones. And come on, rice milk chocolate shaped like safari animals. I don't even know if I want to eat them because they are way too cute. But I tried the chocolate bar (with crispy rice pops) and it is heavenly! Yay for more vegan options. I am really exciting that groceries stores start to sell more vegan products.

2. These animals.

I found it on Cute Overload. These animals are just so unbelievably fantastic. I mean, that goat is just funny and never gives up to try to make the dog play with her. And come on, a dog-licking goat is brilliant. And the dog is so patient and unimpressed. Can't stop watching these two.

3. This book.

I do not usually read books about love. But this one sounded so interesting that I made an exception. I haven't finished the book yet but I can honestly say that I am surprised how much I like this book. The main character is hilarious and reminds me a teeny tiny bit of Adrian Mole. This book makes me laugh and it touches my heart. Unless the other half of the book turns out really crappy, I definitely recommend reading it. Here is a short description I found on Goodreads

"An international sensation, this hilarious, feel-good novel is narrated by an oddly charming and socially challenged genetics professor on an unusual quest: to find out if he is capable of true love.

Don Tillman, professor of genetics, has never been on a second date. He is a man who can count all his friends on the fingers of one hand, whose lifelong difficulty with social rituals has convinced him that he is simply not wired for romance. So when an acquaintance informs him that he would make a “wonderful” husband, his first reaction is shock. Yet he must concede to the statistical probability that there is someone for everyone, and he embarks upon The Wife Project. In the orderly, evidence-based manner with which he approaches all things, Don sets out to find the perfect partner. She will be punctual and logical—most definitely not a barmaid, a smoker, a drinker, or a late-arriver.

Yet Rosie Jarman is all these things. She is also beguiling, fiery, intelligent—and on a quest of her own. She is looking for her biological father, a search that a certain DNA expert might be able to help her with. Don's Wife Project takes a back burner to the Father Project and an unlikely relationship blooms, forcing the scientifically minded geneticist to confront the spontaneous whirlwind that is Rosie—and the realization that love is not always what looks good on paper."

4. This entrance.

This is the entrance to a bookstore. I would not mind having an entrance like that. And my own book store.

5. This show.

I am re-watching Freaks and Geeks (not that I have tons of other stuff to catch up with) because the show makes me feel good and comfortable. It's like meeting an old friend. I also took a test to find out which Freaks and Geeks character I am and my result is Ken Miller because "sarcasm is my second language."

Happy Sunday to you!

An otter named Iivari, an imaginary friend and a bad day. {Ten On Tuesday}

Hallo meine Lieben,

welcome to a late Ten On Tuesday. I was way too busy yesterday for any kind of blogging. I hope you are having a fantastic week! You can link up with lovely Alyssa here.

1. If you want to see a guy and his otter friend who lives in his backyard then you need to click here. Otters make the funniest noises by the way. And the otter's name is Iivari.

2. I want to learn Finnish now.

3. Yesterday really wasn't my day. I woke up in the middle of the night and wanted to check on the bunnies. On my way there I stepped into what the cat must have thrown up at some point at night - only wearing socks. So I took off my own sock and walked downstairs to get paper towels. I slipped on the last step of the stairs and almost broke my neck. When I wanted to take the paper towels out of the bathroom closet I knocked over a pack of 250 cotton sticks which I had to gather up from the bathroom floor in the middle of the night accompanied by two cats who really enjoyed playing with cotton sticks. That's my life.

4. Moone Boy is one of the funniest shows I have ever seen in my entire life. I can't wait for the next season. I really can't. And if you have not watched this show yet then I am telling you that you HAVE TO. I mean it.

5. Which reminds me of another show that is freaking perfect. Black Books. Manny rules.

6. I am currently craving coconut milk cookie dough ice cream.

7. I have a strange obsession with crime documentaries. Last weekend I watched one about Columbine, one about Jeffrey Dahmer, one about John Wayne Gacy and one about the Highway of Tears. I am planning to watch more this weekend. Any recommendations?

8. Did you watch the How I Met Your Mother finale? What are your thoughts? I don't want to say anything right now since I don't want to spoil it for you but please leave your impressions in the comments.

9. True.

10. Something cute because that is what I need.

I am sorry for the lack of posts right now. I am also sorry for not being able to come up with something great right now. It will get better. I promise.

Have a fantastic day!
