Oh...hey...yeah....hmm....it's me.

Hey meine Lieben,

yeah, it's me. I have not posted anything in an embarrassing amount of time but the plan is to finally write something again on a regular basis. No kidding. So I hope there are some of you left and maybe even happy to read me again. I am really fond of this blog of mine and I want to give it the attention it deserves, with a greater variety of topics. Also, there is a need to change this old design so I am hoping to find time for this soon. I really do not enjoy looking at my blog. But anyway, here I am. Life went on and I tried to keep up with your blogs at least but I have to admit that I am a bit behind on that as well. But I have not forgotten about you.

Things that are going on....

- I am currently reading "Will travel for vegan food" by Kristen Lajeunesse which is very inspiring to do something inspiring. Exactly what I need right now. I am truly enjoying this book because it's a mix of vegan food and traveling but the focus is much more on the traveling part which is a blessing in my opinion. I started this book a long time ago and had to give it a break but now I am back and almost done. Guess I will finish it today. Anybody interested in a review? Or book reviews in general? Not sure if I should give it a go.
Update - just finished the book and loved it very very much.

- I am weirdly fascinated by the announcement of the Full House reunion. I feel like I have to watch it once it is on tv. I truly loved that show as a kid although Stephanie was always pretty annoying....but at least there was Kimmy. And Comet, the dog.

- I feel like I will have to buy a new laptop in the new future. Not really excited about this.
I also need a new printer. Electronic devices do not like me very much.

- There's a tiny brown mouse living in my backyard and once it gets dark, she comes out to get some cat food out of the bowl for the neighborhood cats. I can watch her for hours carrying cat food to her hiding place. I provided some mouse-appropriate food though. I don't think cat food is the best diet for a mouse. I named her Bertha.

- I have not worn dungarees in many years but I feel like I want to wear one again.

- My pile of books to read is growing and growing. Also thanks to my wonderful and thoughtful friends ErinMartha and Em. I love you guys!

- I am considering to cut my hair off again. A final decision has not been made yet.

- I love discovering new vegan goodies so I recently tried some all vegan Prinzenrolle-like cookies (basically two round cookies with a chocolate cream in the middle), vish filet (so good that I wanted to buy more but they were all sold out!), rice milk quinoa chocolate, a frozen curry (I usually do not eat frozen meals at all but I had to try this one. Never saw a vegan frozen meal in the store before), peppermint chocolate (a combination I usually do not even like but the package looked great), some nugget-y kind of things....seeing the large vegan selection in the stores nowadays really makes me happy.

- I need one of these vacuum cleaner robot things. I always get excited when I see them.

So, what's new with you? Read you soon - I promise.

Bits and pieces.

Hallo meine Lieben,

it has been a while. Well, I do read what you guys have to say but I never really find the time to come up with a post myself. But since it is a new month (May already!!), I thought I should come up with some little pieces of my life here and there. Nothing really exciting but I think a sign of life is in order.  So let's start with a cute picture because cute pictures are always a good way to start anything. Plus cats do rule. All other animals rule too, of course.

1. My laptop keyboard only works 12% of the time which is really annoying and makes typing a pain in the ass. I have no idea how to exchange a laptop keyboard plus I am known to be the one to destroy all electronics, I don't even try to fix it.

2. Tiffie the bunny will turn 6 tomorrow. I am very excited and bought party hats.

3. I cannot believe it but I am behind my Goodreads reading challenge schedule. Only one book but I am still embarrassed. Not that I don't read but I think I started 10 books at the same time so I really need to stick to one and finish it for now.

4. I am really into baking. Last weekend I made a chocolate cherry cake which is delicious even though it got stuck in the baking pan and does not look all too pretty. I always drink coffee while I bake.

5. So many things I have and want to do right now but not enough time.

6. I am addicted to Jalapeños.

7. I still haven't watched the Paddington Bear movie.

8. I need to get a haircut.

9. Somebody told me that my handwriting is a big mess last week.

10. I own two laundry baskets but one of them only serves as a cat bed.

11. I made a new kitty friend yesterday. He let me pet him and he ate my treats. The mommy of the kitty told me how surprised she was that the cat was so loving and affectionate towards me because he would usually hate strangers and would run away. Made me happy to hear that. Not that the cat hates strangers but that he liked me. The treats might have helped a bit.

12. I think that "Everything happens for a reason" is absolute bullsh#$%.

13. I think I want to start wearing lipstick more often. Which means more than once a year.  I love the ones by Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics.

14. My favorite computer game is Day Of The Tentacle. I am in the mood to play it again.

15. I am really into anthracite walls. And anything copper.

So, what's new with you? I really want to blog more often again. I hope I can handle that. I miss blogging. Have a great rest of the week and see you soon!

100 questions no one ever asks. {Part II}

Hallo meine Lieben,

I hope you are all doing well and are having a good time. I am really sorry about my lack of posts. Hopefully that will change soon. But for now it's time for part II of these 100 weird questions. You can find part I here. And of course it would be brilliant to read your answers as well.

51. Last time you got a portrait taken by a photographer?
I am pretty sure that was in Grundschule, maybe when I was 8 or 9. I do not like having my pictures taken. I always look like an idiot.

52. Do you think musicals are cheesy?
I am not really a fan of musicals. The only one I have ever seen was Dance Of The Vampires which was good because it has vampires in it. Other than that I don't even like it when they do musical episodes of TV shows I like. Just stop singing and keep talking.

53. Is Christmas stressful?
Not for me because I do not really celebrate it very much.

54. Ever eat a pierogi?
Yes, I did.

55. Favorite type of fruit pie?

62. What do you wear to bed?
Clothes that keep me warm. Often a couple of layers because I am always cold.

63. What was your first concert?
Die Sterne in Trier, Germany. Actually, my mom went to a Marius Müller-Westernhagen concert when she was pregnant with me. If that counts.

64. Walmart, Target, or Kmart?
Target. They have cruelty-free and vegan beauty products.

65. Nike or Adidas?
Any company that provides vegan options.

66. Cheetos or Fritos?
I never had any of those. I doubt they are vegan. I do like chips though.

I own a lot of vinyls. When I was a teenager I spent a lot of time in record stores.

Sure.

78. Who would you like to see in concert?
Refused. The Beatles. Take That (all five of them together)

79. What was the last concert you saw?

80. Hot tea or cold tea?
Hot tea.

81. Tea or coffee?
Tea mostly, sometimes coffee.

82. Sugar cookies or snickerdoodles?
I don't know what snickerdoodles are. I like peanut butter chocolate chip cookies (the Vegan Zombie recipe).

83. Can you swim well?
Oh no, not at all. I would probably drown. I am terribly scared of deep water so I never go swimming.

84. Can you hold your breath without holding your nose?
Yeah, but I don't do it.

85. Are you patient?

Tom Cruise. Meg Ryan. Liam Neeson.

93. Actor/actress you really like?
Joaquin Phoenix. Norman Reedus.

94. Who was your high school crush?
A guy a couple of years older than me. I don't think he even knew I existed when we went to school. I went on a date with him when I was 19 or 20 and it was the most boring evening ever.

95. Do you cry and throw a fit until you get your own way?
No.

96. Do you have kids?
I have furry kids.

97. Do you want kids?
Definitely more furry ones.

Thanks for reading! Have a lovely Sunday and talk more soon!
Please let me know if you answer these questions as well. I would love to read your responses!

The one where I feel honored and talk about songs and travels and movies and blogging and some other stuff.

Hallo meine Lieben,

a while ago my wonderful friend Chrissy from The Brave Wanderer (go check her out if you haven't already, she is fabulous) surprised me by giving me an award. And I felt so honored because it always gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling when somebody actually likes my weird blog.
Chrissy, thank you again for nominating me! It means so much! I am happy to be able to call you a friend. Sorry it took me a couple of days to post this!

Friends rule.

Do you regret something in your past?

Yes, trusting some non-trustworthy people.

What is your favorite time of the day and why?

Late evening because it is the most relaxing time of the day and usually the time I cuddle with my furry family members, read a book, eat a snack and watch a movie/show. Also I like getting up early on the weekends when everybody else is still asleep because it is so quiet.

Do you have a secret wish?

Of course I have.

We all have a movie we could watch over and over - which one is yours?

The Boondock Saints, Dirty Dancing, Pretty Woman, Napoleon Dynamite, Reality Bites, Before Sunrise, Bienvenue chez les Ch'Tis, Wayne's World, Dodgeball, Love Actually, The Holiday, Harry Potter, Star Wars, From Dusk Till Dawn, School of Rock, High Fidelity, The Sword In The Stone.

Is there a craft you would like to learn?

Yes, knitting and sewing. But I would like to learn all crafts to be honest. I like crafts.

Road trip, air travel or by train?

Road trip. Or by train. Not a fan of flying. Trains are my favorite I would say.

Camping or hotel?

Hotel. I don't think I am the born camper. One or two nights are fine but I always get so cold, even in summer.

When did you start blogging and why?

Almost 3 years ago. I started reading blogs a couple of months before and I loved it so much that I started my own. Never regretted it. I have met so many wonderful people because of my blog.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years from now?

Living in an quirky cottage with my loved ones and lots of animals, running an animal sanctuary, having a job I truly love, reading lots of books. And having my own library.

This was fun! Thanks again to Chrissy for the honor! I hope you are all having a wonderful week! Maybe you want to answer Chrissy's questions as well. I would love to read what you have to say!

100 questions no one ever asks. {Part I}

Hallo meine Lieben,

I hope you are all having a good start into the new week! I found these "100 questions no one ever asks" somewhere around the internet and I will just answer them because I want you to answer them as well.

This has nothing to do with the questions but it's true.

1. Do you sleep with your closet doors open or closed?
Open. The cats like to sleep in there.

Questions upon questions.

Hallo meine Lieben,

a while ago my lovely friend Martha shared some questions on her blog and asked people to answer them. It took me a while (sorry, Martha), but here we go.

Would you rather have a year of summer or a year of winter?
Can I have a year of fall, please? I really don't know. I do not like being sweaty nor do I like to freeze all the time.

Would you rather become immortal, but be the only person with this condition; or live a short life and die after only fifty years?
I would rather become immortal I guess. I do not want to die after 50 years. I guess being immortal sucks as well but at least you can read lots of books.

Would you rather be rich, pretty and famous for a day or the lower-class, plain-Jane friend of a famous person for a year?
I do not care about being famous at all because I am sure it is annoying when people follow you around all the time. On the other hand you could share some important messages when you are famous and maybe I would be able to change the world somehow. I wouldn't mind being rich of course. And I definitely don't want to be the friend of a famous person for a year.

Would you rather lose your sight, hearing, taste, or sense of smell?
I guess either hearing or sense of smell. I do not want to lose my sight because then I could not read books anymore. And I love to eat so tasting stuff is pretty important. well, I guess I'll go for the sense of smell. Although that would suck big time too. Such hard questions!

Would you rather read the book first or watch the movie/TV show?
The book. Always the book. I want to use my own imagination first. And then let the show/movie destroy it.

Would you rather give an improvised speech live on television or walk around work with bad panty lines all day?
Oh my....I don't know. I get pretty nervous when I have to talk in front of lots of people. If I would have to walk around with bad pantie lines I think I would just sit down all day long and don't get up at all. Or run to the store and buy a long cardigan real quick.

Would you rather give up your favorite food for a whole year in exchange for a cash sum, or skip the money and pig out?
I guess that depends on how much cash....I love to eat.

Would you rather have a month of terrible days (think your worst day ever on repeat) or slip into a coma for a month and miss out on an amazing, once-in-a-lifetime experience?
I would be okay with a month of bad days but not a month of only the worst day of my life. No thank you. I also don't want to be in a coma because I know how it is for the family when somebody is in a coma.

Would you rather spend the rest of your life in your home country, or spend the rest of your life traveling anywhere you wanted (but never being able to return home)?
Those are really hard questions! Damn! I mean, there are so many places I want to see in the world! But never being able to see the place I grew up anymore would be horrible. If I could take all my loved ones and my childhood home with me then I would choose the second option.

Would you rather have a personal hairstylist give you a flawless ‘do every day for a year, or win an all-you-can-grab-in-an-hour shopping spree at your favorite store?
Shopping spree of course. My hair looks horrible no matter what.

I would love to read your answers!
Thank you for reading!

'Cause, I think I'd rather stay at home.

Hallo meine Lieben,

it's the weekend and I decided not to leave the house at all. Maybe I will make an exception for a short walk in the woods to get some fresh air. But other than that I will just stay in my cozy home and enjoy it as much as possible because sometimes that is just all I need. I already got all the groceries I need so I am prepared. And here are my ingredients for a perfect cozy stay at home weekend... At least for my perfect lazy weekend....

Books - there are two piles of books waiting for me - a real one and an electronic one and my plan is to let those piles shrink a bit. Wish me luck.
Animals - of course there will be a lot of cat and bunny cuddles this weekend. The cats love to cuddle up on the couch and the bunnies love to use me as a mountain and climb on my back, stomach, head, butt....
Shows and movies - I have a lot of catching up to do. I am seriously behind on every show I like to watch (Criminal Minds, Walking Dead, Chicago Fire, Bones...) and there are some "new" ones I wanted to check out for ages. Also I still have no watched The Grand Budapest Hotel but I am planning to do so at some point this weekend. It can't be so hard to watch one damn movie.
Candles - it might sound stupid but there are some candles I bought a long time ago that I still have not lit so I guess it is time. I guess the smell of Christmas is okay all year round.
Closed doors - no matter what happens I won't open the door and I refuse to talk to any strangers, including the mail man.
Baking - I can relax perfectly fine while I bake. Which is why I will make some salted peanut butter chocolate cupcakes - and I am planning to eat them while watching all those shows and reading all those books.
Tea - is there an unhealthy amount of tea you can drink? If so then that's the goal.
All things warm and fuzzy - I will spend the whole weekend wrapped up in a blanket, wearing leggings, fuzzy socks and warm sweaters. Maybe even a scarf and a hat if I feel like it. Anything that keeps me cozy.
Cute videos - I will watch a ridiculous amount of cute animal videos on youtube and CuteOverload.
Bath time - I have some Lush bubble bath bombs that are waiting for me to use them so I guess the weekend will involve some time in the tub.
Recipes - one thing I love to do is to look through vegan cooking blogs and my cook books to get some new inspiration and recipes I want to try next.
Chocolate - because it is always a good idea. I stocked up on vegan Vivani chocolate bars (white nougat with crisps!).
My CD collection - I plan to listen to all the music I loved when I was a teenager (Nirvana, Tocotronic, Suede, Oasis, Blur,  and so on) because I have not done that in a while. Memories... And nobody will hear me sing - which is a good thing considering my talent.
Being creative - I recently started drawing again. Also I surely need to work on my knitting skills (because they are non-existent). And I have to spend some time with my camera.
Food - of course, food is important. I am trying to eat as healthy as possible but there will also be some vegan gummi bears involved. And let's not forget the chocolate.
Magazines - besides the books there are also some magazines waiting to be read. Science, craft, animals, vegan....a lot of variety.
Sleep - sleeping is important so you need to take your time for it. I am an early bird but I still want to make sure to get enough sleep - even when I read all night long.
Books - because they are really important.

What are your plans for the weekend? Are they as exciting as mine or do you have some real plans? Enjoy no matter what!

Meanwhile in a small town on a dreary day....

Hallo meine Lieben,

I have not done this kind of post in a while and I guess a new year (even when it already feels old) is a good reason for a little catch-up. I am such a horrible blogger right now. That needs to change. I hope you are all doing great.

Current bookAll The Bright Places by Jennifer Niven. I laughed, I cried, I fell in love with the main characters, I was shocked, my heart melted, I did not want the book to end, could not stop reading. Definitely one of the best books I have read in a while. It's not even the kind of book I would usually pick up. Who has read the book, I want to talk about it. And I guess I need to start writing book reviews after all.
Current playlist - Sunday, bloody Sunday by U2. For some mysterious reasons that song came to my mind today and I started listening to it and then never stopped.
Current color - Blue. Reminds me of the book I just finished.
Current food - Apple cake. I was in the mood for apple cake yesterday so I made one with lots of cinnamon, apples and apple and apricot sauce. Turned out great, even without a recipe.
Current show - I am re-watching Moone Boy and I am impatiently waiting for the third season. If you need a good laugh then check out Martin Moone and his imaginary friend Chris O'Dowd.
Current need - A lottery jackpot would be nice. But I also need to be able to finally find some tapioca pearls in the grocery store because I want to make tapioca pudding. But it feels like there is a conspiracy going on to keep me away from tapioca pearls. Damn you, conspiracy.
Current indulgence Vivani White Nougat Crisp chocolate (made with rice milk). That stuff is almost too good to be true. I am kind of glad that they only sell tiny bars and not huge chunks of it because then I wouldn't be able to stop eating at all. Good stuff.
Current mood - A mix of a lot of weird emotions.
Current quote - "Act. Don’t react. See a need, fix it first. Worry about the details later. If you wait until you are asked you have just missed a golden opportunity. They are fleeting and rare." (My hero Philip Wollen)
Current wish list item - Books. They are always on my wishlist. And a new couch. My old one is becoming a nightmare.
Current movie - Paddington. I need to see this as soon as possible because Paddington Bear is my (and my guinea pig's) childhood hero.
Current magazine - I got a magazine which is supposed to teach you how to sew. The first couple of pages look fine and then it gets so confusing that it scares me.
Current item of clothing - Warm fuzzy socks all the way. I would not survive winter without them.
Current purchase -Lots of Vivani chocolate, a pomegranate, a mango and a book.
Current drink - Tea all the way. I got some stinging nettle mango tea which turned out to be quite tasty. Also lots of fruit smoothies.
Current beauty product - I currently started using a face cream by Lavera with roses and macadamia nut oil - organic, cruelty free and vegan. I am a fan.
Current shoes - Fuzzy house slippers because fuzzy house slippers mean warm feet.
Current hate - the usual: animal abusers. There are too many of them.
Current item to make my home look better - Searching for the perfect rug. And some new coffee mugs would be nice.
Current workout routine - I suck at working out right now. The only thing I do is to go for a walk almost every day. But no Jillian Michaels workout, no running...I need to start getting active again.
Current worry -  Next...
Current plans - Many. More about that soon.
Current smell - Freshly baked apple cake is pretty nice. Also I am searching for a candle that smells like wild roses.

I hope you will all have a fantastic week! Thank you so much for reading. I promise to be back soon!

Random chatter on a rainy day.

Hallo meine Lieben,

I know the new year almost feels old already but this is my first post for this year (bad blogger, I know)  so: happy new year! I hope it will be filled with happiness and health. And cats. And bunnies. And so on. You know. Because I can't really come up with one specific post today I want to share some of my random thoughts with you today. I guess I just needed a reason to wish you a happy new year.

#1.
My goal is to read as many books as possible this year but at least 60. I am about to finish book #3 so I guess I am not doing so badly right now.

#2.
Let's be friends on Goodreads if we aren't already. I am here.

#3.
 No words needed.

#4.
Sometimes I really need to try very hard to remind myself of all the good things in the world because I feel like the bad things consume my mind.

#5.
Watching Moone Boy usually cheers me up. That show is one of the best TV has ever seen. I heard they are planning an American remake. I am not so sure that will work....

#6.
I want to learn new things this year. Including a new language and sewing.

#7.
My printer hates me and never works when I need to print something important. I think technology in general hates me.

#8.
My current food addictions include pomegranates, mango, rice milk chocolate, soy macchiato, curry and lychee.

#9.
I made carrot cake muffins last weekend and they turned out delicious. Completely forgot how good they are. The bunnies were a little sad because they had to share their carrots with me.

#10.
I am finally learning all the things my camera has to offer.

#11.
I spent New Year's Eve on the couch with a book trying to calm down the pets because of the stupid fireworks.

What are you up to? How are you doing? How is your new year going? Hope you are all happy and healthy.
Write more soon! Have a great rest of the week!
