Random Thursday. Books to read in 2014.

Hallo meine Lieben,

let's face it: I suck at blogging right now and I am really sorry about it. I barely find the time to do anything blog-related right now (neither do I find time to read, do something creative  or other things I enjoy). Plus I am having stupid computer issues right now. I don't know what is wrong with my laptop (because I suck at stuff like that too) but it is not working properly and I am barely able to do anything on my laptop. So yeah, there is that....but I am hoping to be back to a more normal state soon. I need to catch up on your blogs and come up with some blog posts myself. For now, I hope you can understand and forgive me. I am trying to finish this post but I am sorry that I can't comment on your blogs right now. I don't know why...I will get my laptop checked tomorrow so hopefully it will work again afterwards. I haven't forgotten about you.
I don't even know if I will be able to post this...we will see. It surprises me that I am able to write this right now.

I am not able to upload any pictures to this post so this will probably be a bit boring and I apologize for it. I am trying to fix this problem for more than 24 hours but it seems like I can't find a solution. I don't even know what is wrong. Maybe it is time for a new laptop. But I don't really want to buy a new laptop right now....

Here we go.

Books to read in 2014.

I can't really list all the books I want to read in 2014 but I can show you the ones I am either reading right now or which I am planning to read soon.

1. "Im Schutz der Schatten", Helene Tursten.
A Swedish crime novel by one of my favorite writers right now.

2. "Isa does it" by Isa Chandra Moskowitz.
One of the vegan cook books I got for Christmas. I got the ingredients to make the vegan Pad Thai today and can't wait to try it next weekend.

3."Mindhunter" by John Douglas.
I got this from Emily as a Christmas presents. She knows me so well. The subtitle is "Inside the FBI's elite serial crime unit".

4. "All creatures great and small" by James Herriot.
Another book Emily picked out for me. Animals play the main part in this book so I know I will love it.

5. "Headhunters" By Jo Nesbo.
I got this one from my friend Martha! My friends really know me so well. I am a huge fan of crime novels so this is perfect.

6. "The Alienist" by Caleb Carr.
Another book Martha picked out for me. It is about a serial killer. Perfect!

7. "And she was" by Alison Gaylin.
My friends and family spoiled me with books this year. Another book I got from Martha. Another crime story. My favorite kind of books.

8. "The lotus and the artichoke" by Justin P. Moore.
A cook and travel book at the same time. There are so many delicious recipes in this book and I can't wait to try them all.

9. "Bake and destroy" by Natalie Slater.
A vegan baking book. Everything looks so yummy. I am sure that I will enjoy the "Pretzel Dogs of the Dead".

10. "Lexikon der Serienmörder" by Peter Murakami.
Got this from my Dad...a book about all kinds of serial killers in the history. I love to read about serial killers.

11. "Schneesturm und Mandelduft" by Camilla Läckberg.
Another crime novel which I can't wait to check out. I wanted to read Láckberg's books for months and now I finally have the chance.

12. "Der Federmann" by Max Bentow.
A German crime novel. That is new to me...I usually read Scandinavian crime but this series sounds very exciting. And bloody and cruel. So I have to check it out.

13. "Columbine" by Dave Cullen.
I do love crime fiction but non-fiction books are fascinating too. It is such an interesting and shocking read. Definitely recommend this to anyone who loves true crime writing.

14. "Duell" by Arnaldur Indridason.
This Icelandic crime novel by one of my favorite writers ever will get published January 17 and I can't wait to start reading it. It's the start of a new series and sounds very promising. Marian Briem who is already known from the other Indridason books investigates.

Okay, there are so many more books on my reading list but my post is already boring enough so I stop here. I really hope that I can be back to normal blogging soon. I really need to fix the problem with my laptop because I can't work like this and I miss being able to read and comment on your blogs.

So now I am curious...what is on your TBR pile? Please share!

  1. I love Camilla Läckberg's books... I hope you do too!

I am still reading my way through The BBC Big Read Top 200... that should keep me busy for a while! I'm currently reading The Thornbirds. I also have the third book in the Northern Lights series on my to read pile and I've just ordered Howl's Moving Castle from Amazon, which is not on the Big Read but I've been told it's worth reading.

  8. You definitely have a lot more books than I have on my "list". I am off to a good start and am reading at least 30 minutes before bed each night - so happy about that and hope I can keep it up. :) Good luck getting your computer issues fixed. If you lived closer my hubby could have a look...
