Five Things. Relax, Lab Animal Day and loss.

Hallo meine Lieben,

happy Friday! I hope your weekend will be fantastic. Please check out my friend Celeste's Five Things as well.

1.  I try not to get stressed out about things anymore. I am getting a lot better but sometimes it just feels like that there are so many things you need to take care of that it feels a bit overwhelming. There are certain things that help me relax: reading a book, cuddling with the pets, take a deep breath, have a cup of tea. What helps you to relax?

2. Lab Animal Day.

Yesterday was World Day For Laboratory Animals. Animal testing is a cruel and unnecessary practice which needs to stop. The products are not only tested on mice and rats and bunnies and monkeys but also on cats and dogs. A fact a lot of people are not aware of. Please speak out for the voiceless animals. They need our help - to stop the suffering.

3. Today is the "anniversary" of my mother's death. It feels weird to call this an anniversary since they are usually happy days. I miss her every single day of my life. Sometimes I still can't believe she is gone.

4.  I am loving this jewelry. It is from an Etsy shop called Friendly Gesture. I guess I really like anything which has an animal theme.

5. This picture is adorable. Found on Cute Overload.

Enjoy your weekend!

  2. So sorry about your mom! It sucks to look back every year on a certain day and remember someone who isn't there anymore. But you have all of your memories of her and the other things she's passed on to you, like your love of animals, that you can cherish every day. Big hugs for you (from the kitties too!)

  4. Sending you a very big, long, loving hug! I'm sure your mom's watching you lovingly and she's very, very proud of the amazing daugther that you are! To me it sounds like you are very much like her from everything you told us about her.
I love taking pics and editing them to relax, or to read blogs :) And reading book. And most of all getting outside, taking a long walk through the forest or biking through the fields will always help.
Animal testing needs to stop. NOW!
Love the jewelry and that pic is so cool :)
    I hope you'll have a wonderful weekend!
Ich drücke Dich ganz, ganz feste und ich denk an Dich, liebste Katrin <3

  5. Not stressing out is something I've really had to focus on. I think I'm getting better these days. Tea definitely helps and lately I've been looking into seasonal tea guides http://vanishaslife.blogspot.co.nz/2014/03/a-guide-to-teas-seasons-and-ayurveda-with-tea-coup.html to help decide which teas to drink. And I've almost set time aside for soaking in the tub, even if it's only for 30 minutes. It makes a huge difference, it's perfect right before bed - but yes, deep breaths also really help ;)

    1. It's not always easy to avoid that the stress affects you. There are always so many things to take care of, it is easy to get stressed out. I think I am getting better but I am definitely not perfect. Tea is always a good idea! Thank you so much for the link, Vanisha! I will check it out! Tea can affect us in so many ways, it is fascinating! And spending some time in the bath tub is always a good idea, preferably with a good book! <3

  6. The ways to get out of stress is good. I have tried them and it has worked. When we have a good sleep we will forget about the things and our mind will get relaxed!

  7. Hi Katrin

May your mother's soul rest in eternal peace.

I hate people who are cruel to animals and animal testing, as we have already discussed, is one of the most obnoxious acts of cruelty.

Interacting with animals is really de-stressing, they are so loving, innocent and non-judgmental.

    Happy weekend!

    1. Thank you so much, Ankita. It means a lot.

Yeah, we definitely agree on this. People do so many horrible things to animals and I will never be able to understand how they are capable.

It is such a good feeling to spend time with animals. Always makes me happy, no matter what!

      Have a great weekend!

  8. I agree with Beate, your mom is most definitely proud of the wonderful and compassionate person that you are! As far as what helps me de-stress, Mother Nature helps me. I love going on nature hikes. They are such an incredible stress reliever because you kind of get away from the world for a little bit :)

  12. I am in the midst of losing someone this year (explaining why I’ve been MIA a month ago) and I know how hard those early anniversaries are. Wishing you many, many joyous moments of your mother. My love and sympathy goes to you xx

  13. Living in France was the best lesson in stress control for me. I used to stress ALL of the time, but moving to a country where I had so little control over things made me have to chill out. Now, if I can't control something, I don't stress about it :)

    1. Yeah, I can imagine that living in a country where you only have little control over things help you to see things from another perspective. I tend to stress out a lot but I already got a lot better with that.
