The defeat of the mean workout witch.

Hallo meine Lieben,

last Monday I finished Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred and I have to say that I am glad it is over. You can read about the first 15 days of the workout here.

I have to admit that I did not exactly what Jillian Michaels told me. You are supposed to do each of the 3 levels for ten days but I got annoyed with level 1 after a while and only did it for 6 days and then level 2 and 3 for 12 days each.

So all in all, this workout was really exhausting and it makes you sweat a lot. I still don't want Jillian Michaels to be my best friend but she definitely knows what she does. The exercises work. That is for sure. I feel so much better. I feel energized, my body feels more toned and I have muscles that I did not have before. And I feel so much fitter than before.

Of course I wasn't always in the mood for the workout, I mean, you have to do it 30 days straight. But I stuck to it and I am really glad I did. For me, it was easier to do the workout without having to hear Jillian Michaels talk. So I only listened to her instructions the first day of each level and then muted the workout video and played some of my music instead. She does not explain much anyway so that works fine for me.

I like about the workout that you only need a mat and some weights. There is only one thing I did not really like very much: doing the same workout over and over. I mean, I did the level 3 workout 12 times in a row and that got a bit annoying after a while. But yeah, it is definitely worth to stick to it.

So what now? I definitely want to keep working out. The thing is that I will probably start to go running again (if I can motivate myself. I have to say that being able to work out inside is kind of nice.). But otherwise I want to check out some other Jillian Michaels workouts and see what I like. There is a yoga workout which I definitely want to check out and I already did a workout from another dvd. I think it is supposed to be a 90 day workout but I am planning to do her workouts maybe 3 times a week (depends on how I like it). I am pretty sure that I will add the yoga workout to my schedule. And ignore her diet plan. So we will see how that goes, I definitely liked the first workout which made my arms hurt a lot.

Do you have any workouts you can recommend?

  1. So cool that you did it and finished! I'm sure a lot of people quit before the 30 days are up!

  2. Congrats to you for sticking with it! I need to restart my 30 day yoga challenge. Otherwise I've just been riding my bike--it's been too hot to do much else!

We should come up with some sort of blog challenge/fitness hybrid thing to do together on our blogs. It would be fun! Well, maybe not fun, but it would be good for us and I know it would motivate me to stick with a program. :P God knows I need some sort of kick in the butt.

    1. Thank you, Martha! I am really glad I finished it! I love to go and ride my bike, that is always a lot of fun! And the 30 day yoga challenge sounds great! I want to check out Jillian Michaels' yoga workout too!

I like your idea, I am sure that would be a lot of fun! We need to figure something out! That would definitely be motivating! I feel like I need some motivation right now!

  4. I can’t possibly imagine doing all the Jillian Michaels workouts but she’s one tough gal! I’m glad that you feel energized and I felt the same way after walking for miles during my stay in Torino and I’m heading home in less than 24 hours and I told myself that I will be doing lots of walking & hiking back in Oregon!

    1. Her workouts are really tough but they definitely work. I want to try her yoga workout as well. I love walking. A lot. I try to walk as much as I can. Lots of people find that weird in America but I am used to walk everywhere. Hope you have a safe trip home, Rika!

  5. I've heard really good things about her workout (and that it's really hard) and the results it generates - good on you for keeping up with it

    1. Thank you! It really is exhausting but I am glad I stuck to it. I am currently checking out some other workouts, I don't want to do the same one every single day.

  6. Congrats from me, too! Sticking to a program like that for 30 days is amazing, especially when it's that boring to repeat the same thing again and again ;) That happens to me with my Pilates CDs - and I only do them very rarely.
I can really recommend Zumba! It doesn't get boring repeated a lot because it takes quite a while to be able to perform the steps perfectly - and the "Gute-Laune"-music is the best, I simply love it :)
Ich drücke Dich soooooooooooo feste <3

    1. Thank you so much, sweetie! I am glad I did it. I really need some more rotation though, it would be nice to have a couple of workouts I can do. It gets boring otherwise. And I really need to check out Zumba, I have heard so many good things about it! I am sure I would look really stupid at first because it would take me forever to figure out all the steps. :)
Ich drueck Dich ganz ganz dolle, meine Liebe! <3

  7. Thank you! She really is tough! I started another workout and it is pretty exhausting as well. But I am glad I stuck to it! Thank you so much for your recommendations, I will check them out! It sounds great that they have different workouts each day, I think that would work better for me. I need to rotate a bit. Thank you so much for stopping by!
