Disney Faves.

Hallo meine Lieben,

I am a huge Disney fan. I watched the movies as a child and I still love watching the same movies I loved back then.
The movies are all fantastic but I do have a favorite. One that watched at least 50 times but I just can't get enough of it. The story is brilliant, the characters are fantastic....

It is....

The sword in the stone

or in German

Die Hexe und der Zauberer (The witch and the wizard).

The movie is from 1963 and it was the last Disney animated feature released before Walt Disney's death.

It tells the story of the young boy Wart who later becomes King Arthur.
My favorite scene is the magic battle between the with Madam Mim and the wizard Merlin who teaches Wart/Arthur everything he needs to know to become successful...with the help of his owl Archimedes, my favorite character from the movie.

I am pretty sure I will still enjoy this movie when I am 80 years old. It is an important piece of film history for me.

What is your favorite Disney movie?

I am linking up with Natalie and Bella for the Weekly Dish.

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

  2. Oh, ich mag auch sehr gerne Disney Filme. Allerdings habe ich keinen Lieblingsfilm. Die alten Zeichentrickfilme finde ich aber oft schöner, als die neueren. Schneewittchen z. B. fand ich toll.

  3. Oh, love it too! It's funny how they name it different things in different countries. In Brazil the movie is called "The sword was the law" . Not exatly a kid-friendly name!

  6. So glad that you love that movie! It is one of my favourites too, but it seems that not many people ever mention it. I also love Beauty and the Beast and Robin Hood. What a fun link up, I might have to join in this week, what with it being Disney related! :)

    1. Yeah, I agree. It is not one of the most popular Disney movies and I don't really know why. It is so great!
You should definitely join the fun, dear!

  7. I love Disney! My favorites are Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast. At our wedding during the union candle ceremony, two of our friends sang "A Whole New World". Yea. We're Disney people!

  8. I've not seen the sword in the stone but I'll check it out. my favorite disney movie is beauty & the beast, although I don't always like the musical numbers but at least Belle isn't a princess and doesn't need rescuing. I also like Mulan also because she's no weakling, like Belle.

hope you have a sweet day.

  11. I like Disney movies also and like way too many to pick a favorite. I have been finding German versions of the songs from some of them to help with learning. Some of the best from that endeavor: The Nightmare Before Christmas "What's This?": http://youtu.be/tTW1-0_nrRE Mulan "Be a Man" http://youtu.be/9mByJ68cz_c and Lion King "Be Prepared" http://youtu.be/EC9Pkz9dPMU
