I hope your week is going fine and is full of sunshine! It's time for another Ten On Tuesday. You can join the link up here.
1. Today is a very very very special day: It's Findus' 4th birthday! YAY! Happy happy birthday Findus! You make me so happy! I love you!
2. The first couple of months of Findus life has been pretty rough but I am endlessly thankful that he is a happy, healthy bunny now who loves to have fun with his buddy Tiffie and his cat friends.
3. Another mean English word I try to avoid as much as I can is "laugh". My friend Celeste reminded me of it. I can't help myself, I always think it sounds wrong when I say it although David tells me that I say it right.
4. I have learned so far that Germans sound angry, are pretty cold and not very romantic.
5. I am planning to eat a whole watermelon today.
6. Maybe I should make a watermelon sculpture first.
7. I would like to watch a really good comedy. Any suggestions? My favorites are Napoleon Dynamite, Bienvenue chez les Ch'tis, Nacho Libre, Shaun of the Dead, Love Actually, High Fidelity, Darjeeling Limited, Be kind rewind, The Royal Tenenbaums. I am not up to date with any new movies.
8. I finally started to work out. But instead of running I decided to go biking. I might start running too.
9. I fell in love with this nail polish color.
10. Findus is awesome. He is so awesome that I need to mention it again.
Have a very happy Tuesday!
that sculpture scares me a bit :O make something happier-looking!
ReplyDelete& I don't know many comedy movies, but I would definitely recommend watching the show Arrested Development? sooo funny!
Haha, yeah, I will make something with a funny face. :)
DeleteI definitely need to catch up on that show, it is awesome! Thank you!
Happy birthday to your bunny! :-D
ReplyDeleteThank you, Susannah!
DeleteHappy birthday bunny!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for mentioning me, I have been terrible with blogging this week because my computer is acting up :(
Thank you, Celeste!
DeleteOh no, I am sorry about your computer! Hope you can get it fixed!
Happy Birthday Findus :) I hope you have a wonderful day (I'm sure your sweet momma takes care of that :).
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about the word "laugh". That happens to me, too, that I feel like pronouncing it wrong.
That pic of the watermelon is funny :) Did you make a sculpture out of yours?
I haven't seen any good comedy lately, so I don't really have anything to recommend. The only thing I remember making me laugh a lot is "Love Vegas".
That nail polish color is great! Did you get it?
I hope you and Findus have a great day :)
Ich drücke Dich ganz fest, liebe Katrin.
Thank you, Beate! :)
Delete"laugh" really is a mean word!
No, I did not make a sculpture but I tried to cut it into some really cute pieces. :)
I will check out "Love Vegas". Thanks for the tip!
I didn't get the nail polish yet, I just discovered it. But I would really like to own it!
Ich drück Dich, liebe Beate!
Love that nail color! I honestly have been craving a lot of watermelon lately.
ReplyDeleteMe too! That is why I had to buy one!
DeleteThe movie "Sleepwalk With Me" is funny and cute.
ReplyDeleteI will check it out! Thank you, Melanie!
DeleteHappy Birthday Findus! (Great name, by the way) Have you seen Juno or Zombieland? Both pretty funny movies I think! ~Stephanie
ReplyDeleteThank you, Stephanie! I like the name a lot even when I named the bunny after a cat. :) I have seen Juno but I will check out Zombieland! Thank you!
DeleteHappy birthday to Findus! Such a beautiful bunny! Fifty will be four this year too, they grow up so fast :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sara! And yes, they grow up sooo fast!
DeleteFindus is just gorgeous - so black that he's almost blue. And seriously.....did you manage to eat a WHOLE watermelon ??!!
ReplyDeleteThank you! :) And no, I only ate half a watermelon!
DeleteIsn't it funny how Germans are seen by others? I actually consider myself to be a romantic and not cold at all. But maybe that's because I've been here for so long now. As for sounding angry - well, I think, it's just the way German sounds to others - it's a very "hard" language compared to many others. You bunny is cute. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you! :)
DeleteAnd yes, it is definitely interesting! I guess the language does sound pretty harsh...and I would say I am not the most romantic person ever but I am not cold at all. :)
1. Alles Gute Findus!
ReplyDelete4. Everyone thinks that about Germans but I actually love how the language sounds when it's not being yelled in a movie and they're no more cold than Northerners (although the same cant be said for US southerners)
Thank you, Alex!
DeleteI am glad you like the German language! And I don't think that Germans are that bad either!
Findus is soooo cuuuuteeeeee...that nail polish color is awesome!
ReplyDeleteHave you seen the American version of Death at a Funeral? Very funny.
Thank you, Martha!
DeleteNo, I haven't seen it! I will check it out! Thanks!
Findus is awesome & super cute!
ReplyDeletecomedies that I recommend are You've got mail, Robin Hood: men in tights, Sabrina, Roman Holiday or any Audrey Hepburn movie, While you were sleeping, French Kiss with Meg Ryan, there are so many other favorites of my but I can't really list them all & beside, some movies seems to be comedies but really aren't
hope you have a great day.
thank you, lissa! I think so too!
Deleteoh, i love while you were sleeping so much! i have seen it many many times! i will check out the ones i don't know. i have never seen you've got mail! thank you!
While it's a common joke and I've even heard Germans make it that Germans always sound angry, I don't think that's really true. I also don't think they're particularly cold. I know some people feel they're rude because they don't smile or greet people as a rule, but you could also say Americans are rude for asking how someone's doing as a greeting but then walking on without waiting for a reply (as in "How's it going?" as they keep walking lol). Of course not everywhere in America is like that either.
ReplyDeleteHaha, you just made me laugh. I have thought about this before: People in America always ask you how you are doing but they never seem to want to hear the answer! It is so confusing!
DeleteGlad you don't think Germans are particularly cold!
I know right. I really don't get why they do it. I used to work in a store and people wanted you to ask "How are you?" I didn't usually because you either get people saying "good" whether they are or not or people who say "bad" and want to tell you their life story while the people behind them are impatiently waiting. I like the German custom of not really having unnecessary chitchat and, if it's a weekend, just saying schones Wochenende at the end. (Plus it means I can get through transactions more often without revealing how little German I know because I don't have to have a conversation with the person).
DeleteWhen people ask me how I am, I always say "Fine, thank you. How are you?" but never get an answer! It is so weird! And yeah, I agree on the people who want to tell you your whole life story. I worked in a store during university and there was one woman who always came to me and told me about her life. It got pretty annoying.
DeleteOh seriously love that nail polish color!
ReplyDeleteI need to get it!
