Art that inspires me.

Hallo meine Lieben,

hope your Thursday isn't cold and rainy like mine. My nose is running for days which is kind of annoying but I never get a real cold. So fingers crossed...
Time for another Random Thursday post.

I don't even know where to start. There are so many things that inspire me. Nature, people, animals, books, movies, paintings, statues, furniture, buildings, photography, music, fashion.....you just need to look closely and then you can get inspired by almost anything. At least that's how I feel about it.
So yeah, I try to see the beauty and inspiration in everything (well, almost everything) but there is one artist who kind of started my interest in art.

Friedensreich Hundertwasser.

I guess that was pretty much the first art that inspired me to do my own "art". I don't know if you can call the paintings and drawings of a six year old art but my parents clearly liked it. I always wanted to live in the "Hundertwasserhaus" in Vienna and I spent hours and hours of my childhood creating and drawing my own Hundertwasserhaus. I still have a folder with at least 100 of drawings of my own dream house.

Where do you get your inspiration from? Do you have a favorite artist? What kind of art do you have in your house/apartment?

PS: You can find some fantastic art on my friend Lissa's blog. She definitely is an inspiration!

  1. Seeing the beauty and inspiration in everything is the key to a beautiful life isn't it Katrin?

  2. I first read about the Hundertwasserhaus when I was studying German and I also found it really appealing. One of my favourite artists is Klimt, I really like his delicate portraits and use of colour, especially the deep purple and gold hues.
When I was at high school I really liked designing clothes and I still have some folders with nearly 500 drawings at my parents. When I take a look at them now I feelthey're just copies of everything on the magazines back then but I'm still amazed at how much work I put on them and wish I could concentrate (and draw) now the way I did before!

    1. That sounds so fascinating about the clothes you designed! I am so impressed that you did something like that! I tried but failed. Haha. That's so cool that you still have all the drawings at your parents. I am sure they all look fabulous!
We really need more time to concentrate on the creative things we love!

  3. Ugh, I've got the rainy/sniffles thing going on here too. Where is the warm sunny October full of pumpkins and leaves underfoot that I see in all those Hallmark ads?! LOL.

Love your inspiration pics! And I agree seeing the beauty in everything makes life so much better.

  7. I love that first one! I don't think I have any specific favorites.. just things I know that I like when I see them. I like some impressionist, things are minimalist, anything very intense.

  10. I love to collect paintings from places we have visited so that seeing them on the walls is a constant memory of our various trips. We also have a local artist who I love and I buy a lot of his paintings too. I'm running out of wall space .......!!

  11. I love that first artwork especially! Very cool! I wish I had that kind of talent. I love all types of art, but in my home, I prefer to decorate with pieces with softer lines and colors. More peaceful, I suppose!

  12. I love both pieces. When it comes to painters, I suck at remembering names. I guess one classic I've always liked is Edward Hopper, so typically American, hehe. I love how he's always an observer in his paintings.

I also like the collages that a blogger called Pam Garrison does.
