Lovely Blog Award.

Hallo meine Lieben,

my wonderful friend Irene from Away from Tenerife nominated me for the "Lovely Blog Award" and I have to say that I feel so honored that she thought of me. I mean, I am always amazed when people actually read my blog, leave comments and respond to mine! Thank you so much! It really means a lot to me!
You should all check out Irene's blog! She is an expat from Tenerife who currently lives in Switzerland. So there are lots of interesting things going on in her life. She is also a real sweetheart.

Back to the award. I allowed myself to change the rules a bit. You are supposed to thank and follow the blogger who nominated me which I already did (but I still want to thank Irene again because it really means a lot to me! Thank you!!). Then I need to share seven random facts about myself which I will do in this post. But instead of nominating 20 other bloggers I just want to award all of you guys because you rock! And please share seven random facts about yourself with me.

So here are my random facts.

One.

I love to buy books, nail polishes, magazines, lip balms, Lush products, food and shoes. Those are my favorite things to shop for. I love to spend hours in the book store and it is better not to disturb me when I am there.

Two.

My eyesight is pretty bad which is why I wear contact lenses. I want to get some new glasses and start wearing them more often tough. I wish I would wake up one morning and my eyesight would be perfect. I feel so stupid when I can't see anything.

Three.

I have a stupid kidney disease which annoys me because there is not much you can do against it other than having a healthy lifestyle.

Four.

My favorite movie of all time is "Boondock Saints" but I also love to watch a fun mixture of other movies such as Before Sunrise, Star Wars, Napoleon Dynamite, Dirty Dancing, Bienvenue Chez les Ch'tis, Dodgeball, Nacho Libre, Shaun Of The Dead, Love Actually, The Holiday, Die Hard, From Dusk Til Dawn, High Fidelity, Be Kind Rewind, The Sword In The Stone, Reality Bites, Lord Of The Rings, The Royal Tenenbaums and a lot more.

Five.

I can't whistle. I just can't. I have tried it but I really suck at it.

Six.

I have a scar on my forehead but it does not look as cool as the one Harry Potter has. I wish it would. Mine is not as impressive.

Seven.

My bucket list includes things a ride in a hot air balloon, learning at least two more languages, travel to Christmas Island, write a book, own a castle where I run my animal sanctuary, build my own furniture, learn how to sew and a lot more things.

Thanks again for nominating me, Irene! I feel so honored and I am so glad that we have met!

And now I want to hear some random facts about you guys!
Have a lovely Wednesday!

  1. Congrats, hun, you totally deserve it! I'm constantly blown away, not only by how much we have in common (seriously, it's creepy) but by how amusing your blog is - and the fact that you manage to do it all in English so well! I've tried to learn other languages, and man, it is NOT easy. You're damn impressive, girl! :)

And yeah, we have so much in common, it is almost creepy! :) And I am happy to hear that you think my blog is amusing. Really. I know I still do a lot of mistakes but I am doing my best...so thank you! :) Thank you! <3

  5. Congrats on your blog award, you really deserve it!!

It is weird how much we have in common! I can't whistle to save my life! I am mostly out of interesting random facts about myself but I will try to come up with six more:

    --I can't cartwheel, either.

--I buy shirts, put them in my dresser, and forget about them for several months because they drawers are so packed. And then I find them and it's like a surprise gift!!

--I liked the LOTR movies more than the books.

--If I find out someone dislikes cats I really have trouble being nice to them. I suspect they're secretly a murderer or something horrible like that. What sort of person hates cats?

--I can pick things up with my toes.

--Even though I'm scared of heights and don't want to fly, ever, ever, ever, I'd like to go skydiving someday.

    1. Thank you so much, Martha! You are so sweet! And thanks for sharing your random facts! It was so much fun to read them!
I need to try if I can still cartwheel, I was able to as a teenager but I doubt that I can still do it. :) And yeah, I agree, people who hate cats are bad people. Period. So funny that you want to go skydiving! :) David did that years ago but I don't think I want to try! :) I can't pick up things with my toes but we have so much in common, Martha! <3

  6. #5 is me too. #1, absolutely. though rarely nail polishes. somehow I always end up buying books and shoes.

    random things about me?
1 - I'm terrible at pronouncing names. really, sometimes I don't call people by their names if I'm not sure I'll get it right

2 - my favorite fruit is dragon eye aka longan which is quite sweet to eat

3 - sometimes I forget how to pronounce certain words for no good reason
4 - I like the put things away in boxes and then of cause, I can't find what I'm looking for but I really like to keep things organized and keeping them in boxes is just one way to stay organize

5 - I'm usually quite messy when I eat. sometimes I have food stains on my clothes that I don't even notice

6 - When I'm in a bad moon, I like the watch tv shows, especially Korean dramas

7 - I use spellcheck a lot - in fact, I even spellcheck this comment. I use this text software called iText Express for Mac which is so easy to use, certainly less complex than Word.

there you have some random boring stuff about me.

hope you have a sweet day!

      Have a sweet day!

  8. I have a scar on my chin from where I fell down a loft ladder as a teenager.

I'm terrible at thinking up facts about myself! Whenever I'm given these awards, I take months to post them because I can't think of any new facts.

    1. I hit my head on a wardrobe while driving on a tricycle. Pretty stupid!

I had to think of mine forever too, so don't worry! :)

  9. I can't whistle either. Try as I may. And what's Christmas Island?? I wanna go!

    1. So glad I am not the only one! :)
Christmas Island is in the Indian Ocean and only 2000 people live there. What fascinates me about it is the crab migration. Thousands of crabs migrate from the forest to the coast in October/November so the whole island is covered with crabs. You should google pictures of it, it's so fascinating! I would love to see this in person!

It is called Polycystic kidney disease and I am fine now, my kindeys are still working. I just have to make sure to eat healthy and I have to take medicine but other than that it's okay right now. I hope it will stay that way for very long! Thanks for asking!

  11. I love reading Irene's blog as well! It was fun learning all of these facts about you! I can't whistle either! And even though I had Lasik surgery to correct my vision 10 years ago, I could still use a pair of glasses. It's on my to-do list for next summer!

    1. Her blog is really great! I hope you can find some new glasses! I am thinking about surgery too but I am so scared that something could go wrong. I am usually not a very scared person but I am weird about my eyes. :)
