Random Thursday. Fave things to do when home alone...

Hallo meine Lieben,

I hope you are all doing great and having a wonderful time! Happy Thanksgiving to my American friends!

Taking a bath.

That's definitely a thing that relaxes me the most when I am alone. I don't know but it feels like you are in another world or dimension or whatever. A pretty nice feeling. I always read in the bath tub.  A Lush bath bomb makes the experience even more enjoyable.

Reading, reading, reading.

I have to say that I always read, no matter if there is one person around or a hundred. So it is not really special that I read when I am alone. But I had to mention reading, just because it is so important. And I don't need to feel guilty about doing nothing else when I am home alone.

Singing.

I am a terrible singer so I usually avoid singing when people are around. But I do enjoy singing and dancing around the house when nobody can see or hear me. I am not even ashamed but I think nobody deserves to hear me sing.

Watching crime shows.

David does not like to watch my favorite crime shows at all (Criminal Minds, Bones, Mentalist, Castle) so I usually watch them when he is not around or busy doing something else. I will never understand why he does not enjoy these shows because they are fantastic, but okay....

Eating weird things.

David and I pretty much love to eat completely opposite things. I am vegan, he eats meat. I hate onions, he loves them. I love broccoli, he hates it. He likes American breakfast, I prefer it German (Brötchen!!). There are also some things we both love to eat together, so don't worry. But when I am alone I just eat weird things only I enjoy. Like oatmeal 3 times a day. Or lots of Sauerkraut. Or gummi bears for breakfast.

What do you do when you are home alone?
Happy Thursday!

  1. I always eat the things my husband doesn't like whenever we aren't together! It's just easier. Haha Are you having a thanksgiving celebration with his family? If so, enjoy and Happy Thanksgiving!

  3. Ah, you Germans and your bread! When we visit Jan's dad, we have toast and jam for breakfast then bread and cheese in the evening. I come home feeling like I'm going to turn into a loaf of bread!

  7. I'm doing all the same things you're doing, except for the crime shows ;) I never get to watch any TV :) But I do love to take baths, to read (always), I'm trying to only sing when nobody hears me cause otherwise I feel sorry for them - I'm terrible at it, too. And I'd never offer anyone what I'm eating by myself, but I love it :)
And I love quiet time to edit pictures and to blog.
    Katrin, we're indeed twins :)
Ich drücke Dich gaaaaanz feste!! Happy Thanksgiving! Ich hoffe, Du hast einen ganz tollen Tag :)

    1. I don't really find enough time to watch some shows either. It's kind of sad. I am planning to watch some tonight! We should sing together, I am sure it would be very enjoyable. :) I love the stuff I eat too but would not offer lots of it either. :)
We are definitely twins, Beate. :) Love it!
Ich drücke Dich ganz ganz dolle! Hab ein super Wochenende!

  8. Oh, I love your choices! I love watching my Blu-ray boxsets that my other half doesn't like to watch. I watched the full Twilight saga when I was home sick too weeks ago and often have Harry Potter marathons.

    1. I am glad that David likes to watch Harry Potter too but there is also lots of stuff he does not like (crime shows especially or Dirty Dancing) so I watch that when I am alone. Being sick is definitely a good reason to watch movies or shows. Hope you feel better now!

  9. I love everything you do when home alone: a steamy, cozy Lush bath, reading Scandinavian crime novels on Kindle, singing in the shower or taking a wee when no one is home (of course), does sci-fi/crime shows count? and what a coincidence - my partner and I eat opposite things. i hate olives, he loves them. i hate bbq/smoky flavor, he loves the flavor. I also eat a lot of sauerkraut, too, even as a meal. sour gummy bears for breakfast, oh please, i would love to have them for breakfast tomorrow.

    1. Of course it counts! :) That's so funny you eat opposite things also. And I love that you hate bbq flavor too. I just can't stand the way it smells or tastes, makes me sick. But David loves it! We could eat gummi bears for breakfast together. :) I made some Sauerkraut pasta today. So good!

  10. Reading and eating weird things--definitely me too! Not that I forgo these things when I'm not home alone, LOL, but I feel less weird doing them alone. No one can laugh at my dinner of garlic bread and marinara sauce or oatmeal multiple times over!

  13. I'm sure you're not as terrible of a singer as you claim to be! ;) And I was wondering, when it comes to cooking for David, can you cook non-vegan products or do you just not do it? Just wondering ;).

By the way, can you please send me your address in Germany if you're still there? I wrote it down a while ago, but I can't understand my handwriting, haha. I want to send you a Christmas card.

    1. Trust me, I am a terrible singer, Miki. :) I can cook non-vegan products but David usually cooks his stuff himself. But I cooked for him before and he always liked it, even when it was too spicy because I did not try how it tasted. :)

Of course I will send you my address! :) Your card will be on the way soon! :)

    1. Bones is such a fantastic show! You should really check it out! But I have no idea why guys are not into shows like that. I only know girls who love these shows. It is so weird!
