Random Thursday. It's just how I was raised...

Hallo meine Lieben,

welcome to another round of Random Thursday. I hope you will all link up and share your thoughts with us. I hope you are all having a wonderful week!

So here we go....

Being kind to animals.

Growing up in a small village I was used to having animals around. Not just cats, bunnies or dogs but also cows and pigs and chicken. And I loved spending time with them. My Mom was a very compassionate person with a huge heart and we always took care of animals in need. We never really planned to get a pet. They just showed up and stayed. We took care of wounded frogs, steal away our cat Garfield from a horrible neighbor, let stray cats move in...

Being a book worm.

Now that I think about it: my childhood was full of animals and books. I think I had more books as a child than most of my friends....because my mother was an even bigger bookworm than I am (if that is possible). Before I learned how to read my Mom always had to read for me and I knew all my books by heart and corrected my Mom when she skipped a paragraph. My Mom also introduced me to crime novels and I will never stop being thankful for this because -as you might know- crime novels are my huge book love.

Hating onions.

(No onion picture. Don't want to see them.)

I got this one from my Dad- he hates onions even more than I do. I dislike everything about onions. The taste, the smell, the texture, the way it feels when you chew them. I just can't stand them. A world without onions would be a better world. At least for me.

Can't wait to read your stories! Thanks for reading!
Have a fantastic rest of the week!

    1. Glad you like the post, Ankita! You rock! I just can't understand how you can love onions. Haha. Onions are so evil! But yeah, I guess I am the minority here. :)

  2. I agree on loving animals and reading books! I also got my healthy side from my parents--they were vegetarians when I was little and always made us kids eat lots of healthy good. Junk like soda and chips was a "treat", not an everyday thing. Now as an adult I'm the one eating healthy and when my parents come to visit my Dad is like, "Let's order pizza. Let's go get donuts." And I'm like, "No, you have to eat your vegetables first!!" LOL.

    1. That is cool that your parents were vegetarians when you were little. I am sure that was helpful. My Mom always had to cook something else for me. :) Chips and soda were treats in our household too. We only had stuff like that at birthdays etc. So funny that your dad is the one who wants to eat unhealthy now!

  4. I love having animals around. Animals are wonderful and I love how we can become connected with them like family. Actually they ARE family aren't they??

  6. Ha! The onion one is cute. Who knew hating onions could be hereditary? A random thing that I inherited from my mom is my love of printed napkins.... we both have a huge collection to be pulled out at every occasion! ~Stephanie

  8. Katrin, I get the feeling we've been siblings in a former life. Twins maybe? :)
It made me smile to read your post because I just posted today what animals mean to me. And books, books are the best invention ever. I've been reading under the blanket with a torch when my parents thought I'm asleep because I couldn't stop.
And onions - who on earth needs onions?? ;)
Ich drücke Dich ganz feste liebste Katrin!! <3

  10. My dad loved onions when I was growing up and I always found them so disgusting. Luckily, I changed my mind and I can barely go a meal without them these days.

    1. How did you do that? :) I don't think it's possible that I will ever change my mind about onions!

  11. My dad HATES onions. No matter how small you chop them, he knows they're there.

I like them in cooked food but cannot stand them raw. When Jan comes in smelling of raw onion, I send him straight to brush his teeth!

  12. I agree with being nice to animals and being a book worm. I started to read from a very young age. And It helped my imagination so much more. Loving animals is part of my nature. I hate to see animals in pain.

  13. You're so funny! Onions aren't my favorite either, unless they've been cooked so long that they're really soft. My grandfather was a farmer and grew onions and loved them so much, that he would peel them and eat them RAW! Gross, right? Whenever I smell onions now I think of him.

    1. Glad you like my post. :) I wish I could eat the onions when they are cooked but I just can't! Your grandfather seemed to love onions a lot. I could never imagine eating them like that! But it is great that the smell of onions make you think of him!
