Random Thursday! Blogger pet peeves.

Hallo meine Lieben,

it is time for another Random Thursday post!
You can join the fun here...

This week's topic is

I have to say that there is only one thing that really annoys me...well maybe two.

First.

Captcha.

The problem is not even the thing itself (well, it is a little stupid because it is so time consuming and unnecessary but okay, I can accept it.)...the problem is that my eyes are really bad so most of the time I have to try it a couple of times before I get it right and that totally freaks me out. I mean, can you always read those letters? I really can't and I don't know if I am the only person and everybody else only needs one try....I really don't know. It is possible that I give up commenting when I get it wrong two or three times. So I really wish I would not have to do it at all...

Second.

Autoplay music.

I love music. I really do. I listen to music a lot. But I want to be prepared. When I open a blog and music starts I just get a heart attack. Do you want me to die? I hope not! But I get scared very easily and my heart just stops beating. So please, no music! Only when I can click a button to make the music start playing....

What are your blogger pet peeves? I am really interested to know!

By the way, when I moved to America I had no idea what a pet peeve is. I thought it is something like a bad habit. So I had to get used to that expression first....it still sounds a little funny and confusing for me!

Have a wonderful Thursday!

Ten On Tuesday. Tag der deutschen Einheit, card games, Dr. Sloan and my super kitty!

Hallo meine Lieben,

time to link up with my favorite lovely Lin from Linny's Vault! Thank you Lin for being so awesome!

1. To all the Germans: Happy Tag der Deutschen Einheit (Day of German Unity) tomorrow! I hope you will all have a wonderful holiday!

2. Do you watch Grey's Anatomy? I know that Eric Dane wanted to leave the show but this was really weird. Wasn't he fine at the end of the season 8 finale? I mean, he did not get hurt that badly. But then he is in a coma at the first episode of season 9 and they have to let him die because he has a living will that says that they have to shut down the machines after three days? Weird.

3. Eric Dane sues Billy Corgan? Just be nice and talk to each other. That's what friendly neighbors do.

4. I am cold. But that's nothing new.

5. I discovered a great card game. It is called "Phase Ten". Playing cards is awesome but I am definitely the worst Poker player ever because you can always see if I have good or bad cards.

6. My husband rocks.

7. Maybe they should choose a real German to play a German in How I Met Your Mother. A person with a German accent who actually knows some German words. To make it sound believable. Just a suggestion, Klaus.

8. I found a book about cats called "A day with Tiger" at the flea market. I had to buy it because my cat's name is Tiger and he looks like the cat on the cover. Pretty awesome.

9. I have so many shows I want to catch up with! I guess I need to watch TV for 24 hours straight.

10. You are the best (blog-) friends ever! Thank you! Dankeschön!

Have a lovely Tuesday!

Sunday Confessions! The smell of books & salad dressing that tastes like vanilla.

Hallo meine Lieben,

Confession # 1.

I love the smell of books. If there would be a perfume that smells like books I would totally buy it.

Confession # 2.

I wore a warm coat, boots and two sweaters today when I went out and I even had my gloves in my purse. I saw a man wearing shorts, a woman wearing sandals and a couple of people with t-shirts. I might be weird. But I was freezing cold.

Confession # 3.

Theodora Rose Williams is a pretty awesome name for a baby. I still hope that Robbie will go on tour soon.

Confession # 4.

I want a lip balm that smells like ginger ale.

Confession # 5.

Yesterday I used vanilla soy yogurt for me usual salad dressing instead of plain yogurt. It was surprisingly delicious.

What do you have to confess? Have a lovely Sunday!

Random Thursday. First celebrity crushes.

Hallo meine Lieben,

I love the Random Thursday linkup with Lin, Em and Sarah! It is always so much fun to write posts about the weekly topics. You can join the fun here by the way.

This week's topic is pretty awesome again and I can't wait to read the other girls' opinions on that.
It is.....

I had to think about this first because I honestly couldn't remember who I admired when I was 12 but then I pictured the walls of my room back then and remembered all the posters on my wall.....

But we have to start way earlier because my first celebrity crush was.....

....an elephant.

Yeah, believe it or not but I admired an elephant, I had posters of him on my wall, I listened to his voice before I fell asleep, he was my absolute hero and I wanted to go and live with him.

I guess every German knows Benjamin Blümchen.

I collected all the tapes of his adventures (I still own them) and I can sing the theme song. Both. The old and the new one. They are fantastic.

When I got a little older I started to watch Beverly Hills 90210. I loved that show and I might have to watch it again someday. It was interesting to watch 16 year old people with plastic surgery and alcohol withdrawal.
It was so surreal and that made it very interesting to watch.

And yeah, I had a two posters in my room. I had one with the whole cast and one of the guy I thought was so cool when I was twelve. Dylan McKay.

                                                                       source

So now I am curious! Who were your first celebrity crushes? Did you have posters in your room?

Have a fabulous Thursday, meine Lieben!

Ten On Tuesday! Crime novels, awesome shows and dreams.

Hallo meine Lieben,

another Tuesday, another link-up with my favorite Lin from Linny's Vault!
How is your week going? I hope you are all doing great! You mean a lot to me guys!

One.

My nose is running and I am sneezing all the time but I never get sick. I tell that myself for years and I really never get a cold etc. It just doesn't help against kidney infections. I hate kidney infections. My kidneys can be really stupid sometimes but I am thankful that they are still there.

Two.

Wake up!

                                                                       source

And yeah: they test on cats and dogs too. I know it is easy to ignore that kind of stuff but it is even easier not to buy stuff from the companies that test on animals. Here is a list of companies that do test but also a list of companies that don't.

Three.

I can't wait to watch the new episode of Castle tonight. I really missed that show. But I am also still addicted to The Mentalist.

Four.

Coffee with chocolate soy milk tastes pretty awesome. Next time I will try vanilla soy milk. I also like almond milk a lot. And I really want to try a rice-coconut-drink that I have seen on the internet but not in a store yet.

Five.

I really wish I would not be so scared of deep water.

Six.

I can't wait to read the newest Hakan Nesser book! I am so excited and I don't want to wait until October 1.

Seven.

There will also be a new Indridason book in November. I love to read every day of the year but the best time to read crime novels is in fall.

Eight.

I really want to have a castle with a library in its tower. With a fireplace, an old comfy chair and a globe bar where I can hide all my alcohol.

Nine.

Thank you so much for all your TV show recommendations! I will check them out and I'll start with Criminal Minds!

Ten.

You guys are awesome!

I hope you are having a wonderful Tuesday and a fabulous week! I love to read your comments and your blogs and it means so much to me that you guys are always there for me!

Hallo meine Lieben,

do you know my friend Mel? Her blog is called Sweet and Lovely and that's exactly what she is! She is so wonderful and you should all hop over to her blog and say hi! She is a German girl with American roots, an awesome photographer and she has such an adorable dog....you should really meet her!

On Saturday she posted 11 random facts, answered some really cool questions and it was great to learn even more about her.
She also posted 11 questions that she wants othrs to answer and that's what I am doing in this post!

Please feel free to join the fun and answer them too!

1:: let's imagine you won a 3 month vacation anywhere you want to go. Where would it be and what would you do?

Oh, that's a though one because there are so many places I want to see. I guess I would have to decide between the Christmas Island and Iceland. On Christmas Island I want to see the famous crabs, hang out at the beach, do a trip on a boat and discover all the secrets of that island. On Iceland I want to see some geysers, travel to all the places I read about in my crime novels and tell people to stop whaling.

2:: What is your way of relaxing after a very stressful day?

A good book, a bath tub, snuggle up on the couch later, watch some TV shows, drink tea and eat something yummy. And spend some time with David and the pets for sure. They always make me feel good.

3:: Did you have any pets as a child? when yes, what?

Yeah! We had a cat when I was born and later I got bunnies and guinea pigs. I love animals and I don't really want to live without them.

4:: high heels or flats?

I wear flats most of the time but I also have some high heels. I love high heels but I like to be comfortable when I have to walk around a lot. I wear a lot of ballerinas in summer and boots in winter.

5:: What's your number one comfort food?

Pasta. It makes me happy. Drinking tea also helps.

6:: Current favorite TV show?

I have so many but I watch a lot of The Mentalist at the moment. I am obsessed. Other shows I love are The Big Bang Theory, Castle, How I Met Your Mother, The Inbetweeners, Emergency Room.....

7::One embarrassing moment you can remember from high school.

It didn't happen in school but after school I walked into a store and I was in a rush and wanted to hurry up.....the floor was wet, I was running, I fell down and everybody stared at me. That was a little embarrassing....

8:: Do you play an instrument? If not, is there one you would really like to play?

I played saxophone when I was younger and I really want to play it again. I sold mine at some point to get a bass. I had lessons but I had to realize that I am not a very talented bass player. My saxophone playing was better. David is the musician in the family.
And I would love to play piano!

9:: What would be the first thing you would buy if money were not the problem.

My dream house. A castle with a library in the tower. With lots of space for animals.

10:: You have to wear the same outfit for the next two years. What would it be.

Tricky! I need something warm for winter so I have to wear lots of layers so that I won't get cold. My black winter coat, gloves, a warm scarf, black pants, a cardigan with a top under it, some nice boots, warm socks. I am really scared that I could freeze to death in winter.

11:: What would your ideal day look like?

Hmmm....just be together with David and the pets, have some quality time together, have some great food, spend some time outdoors, watch a good movie, drink some wine, read a good book, maybe go to a bookstore.....

Have a wonderful week, lovelies!
