Random Thursday. All things Halloween.

Hallo meine Lieben,

Halloween is a huge deal in America. It isn't as big in Germany which is kind of sad because I really love that tradition. I love everything spooky and I love to see kids going from house to house to collect candy. I would have loved that as a kid.
The topic of this week's Random Thursday is....

And I am linking up with these lovely ladies....come join the fun!

There are many many things that I love about Halloween. I don't even know where to start because it is such a fantastic day. Sad thing is that in America November 1 is not a holiday. In Germany it is. Point for Germany. America should really make that day a holiday.

Black cats are fantastic! I guess my friend Miki would agree on that! So I love the fact that black cats play such an important role at Halloween. They definitely don't mean misfortune or anything like that.
I have read recently that black cats often get abused or sacrificed around Halloween. I can't believe this world sometimes. So please take care of your cats. All cats. And all other animals.

Lumpi says hi!

I love all the Halloween colors. Black, purple, orange...what a great combination. We got a fantastic Halloween light string. It creates a pretty cool atmosphere. I guess I would decorate the house in the Halloween style all year round....spiders, skulls, candles, tomb stones etc. That would be fun.

Another thing I love about Halloween: Haunted Houses. Last year was a premiere, I never went to one before. It was fantastic but also very scary. David promised me that the zombies, chainsaw guys, ghosts, mass murderers etc would not touch you in there. But sure, they did. I was the victim of some really mean attacks. I had to follow a creepy looking guy over an underground cemetery in a haunted cave just to be followed by a zombie with a chainsaw. Not so nice. One guy stole my hat, another one grabbed my ankle when I walked over a bridge in the complete dark.

I am also a huge fan of pumpkin soup. And jack-o-lanterns. And ghosts, ghouls, zombies, candy, bats and of course, horror movies!. I need Halloween all year round!

What do you love about Halloween? What is your favorite horror movie?

  1. Can't believe they let the ghouls at the haunted house touch you guys. There are super strict rules at the places we go that forbid any one from touching one another, guess a couple of people got in fights with the monsters over being touched, haha, so they banned it.

I love haunted houses, even though I'm pretty much screaming like a sissy throughout the whole maze. As I'm writing this I'm watching the movie 'Slither' on netflix. I know it's not really a horror movie but I'm on a horror-ish movie marathon mood until next week :) Next up is Beetlejuice :)

  6. I LOVE that Nov 1 is a holiday in Germany - we always would complain about school the day after Halloween so the US definitely needs it, and just needs more days off in general.

  9. AWE, I totally agree!!! 100%! :D And yes, I've been told some mean people kidnap black cats especially during Halloween :(. Last year, it was really quiet in my neighborhood, so we didn't have to lock the cats (esp. Dimitri) in. I hope this year it's the same.

And I'm kind of falling for Halloween :p. It's a fun and mysterious holiday.

Have a fun weekend, Katrin! ;D

Oh, and btw, I mentioned you in my blog, too ;).

  12. Halloween is definitely a holiday that's difficult for me to comprehend as it's not a big deal in Fiji or in Australia (though it is much celebrated in Australia) :) xoxox

    1. The traditions are really different in all the countries. When I was a kid nobody cared for Halloween in Germany!

  13. I am so happy you like black cats! I know they are sometimes overlooked in shelters. I actually have two black cats back home and I miss them both so much.

  14. I like Halloween also. I think you could get away with some of the things year round if you wanted to lol. My husband and I were going to go to Burg Frankenstein here until I found out that they do touch people, and not just ankle grab but they actually pick people up, put them in coffins, pull hair, etc. No way I was going after hearing that.
