Confessional - Tell a secret.

Hallo meine Lieben!
Happy Thursday!  Please link up here for another Random Thursday post with a fantastic topic.

It is time for some revelations. I am pretty excited to read the other girls' posts.

Secret #1.

When I was a kid I totally looked like a boy.
Must have been at the age of 7 or 8. I did not care for girly stuff like Barbie dolls etc. I played soccer, I loved to play in the mud and get dirty and I had a huge collection of toy cars.
Need proof?
You can have proof. See here.

This picture was taken at a vacation to the North Sea. There was a group of boys that played soccer together every day. Only boys were allowed to play with them. So I told them that my name was Daniel (that was my parents' choice of a male baby name) and joined their team. They believed me. Even when I was wearing a pink shirt and red pants. My parents had to call me Daniel for the rest of the vacation.
True story. My Dad still loves to tell it and embarrass me.

Secret #2.

It took me an embarrassing amount of time to figure out what this sign exactly means.

I mean, I knew what it stands for but I had no idea that "ped" means
"pedestrians" and how I am supposed to know that 'xing" means "crossing"? I am German! Come on!

Please, tell me your secret!
Have a wonderful day!

  7. I looked remarkably similar to that when I was a child. Only with worse hair. My mother decided to experiment with the scissors, and looking back I really wish she hadn't! I love that you didn't just accept that you couldn't play - and that your parents supported you. No wonder you turned out so awesome! Also that sign confused me for a few minutes, too. And not only is English my first language, but my mother was an English teachers. So don't feel bad.

  8. I love that your parents actually called you Daniel! That's good parenting right there...haha....maybe not the part about them telling it years later to embarrass you though.

I always get confused by that sign too. I just say it X-ing...just because and people tease me about it ALL the time.

    1. Haha, yeah, they are the best! And I can live with the embarrassment. At least I was able to play soccer. :)

So funny, that is how I say it too. I mean, that's what it says so I call it like that! :)

  9. Oh my gosh, these secrets are so awesome! Love that you actually told the boys your name was Daniel lol. Hilarious.

Seeing as you already know how I feel about stupid road signs, I can relate to not fully understanding these signs.

  10. My mom does this, too, telling all the embarrassing childhood stories about me ;) So funny your parents played along and called you Daniel :D That was a really smart idea.
When I saw that road sign just now I had no idea what it meant. Without your explanation I would have to look for it, too!
My secret of the day: I'm the kind of driver that always needs to listen to music and sing along very loudly...good thing nobody hears me (I hope) cause I'm so bad at singing ;)
Ich drücke Dich ganz fest liebste Katrin.

  11. That first secret is hilarious--you were quite the spy even as a child, apparently!

I've always pronounced those signs as "zing" even though I know it's "crossing". Did it as a kid and I still say it now!
