Five Things. The birthday edition.

Hallo meine Lieben,

hope you are having the most wonderful weekend.
Please go over to my friend Celeste's blog The Good Girl and check out her Five Things. Celeste is wonderful! Plus you get to see a Poodle Moth!

1. my birthday.

Happy birthday to me! Today we will spend the day with a trip to Columbus, we will do some shopping, go to a concert by the fabulous band "...And you will know us by the trail of dead" and I will probably receive one or two skype calls.

2. this birthday song.

My favorite birthday song. I will probably listen to it once or twice today. Isn't it cute? I just can't get enough of it. I have to admit that I listen to it once in a while even when it is not my birthday.

3. this cat.

My godfather and his wife adopted this wonderful kitten today so that their other cat Lisa would have a companion. My dad went over to their house to welcome the new family member and he sent me at least 20 pictures of the cat. Our family loves cats as you can see (all animals!). Her name is Klara and I think she looks very smart.

4. my latest tea addiction.

I drink Irish breakfast tea every morning but yesterday I had the idea to add some vanilla flavored coconut milk and I am in love.  I think I already had 6 cups in 24 hours.

5.  these tea cups.

This is an impressive collection. The cool thing is that my Mom collected cups like that and I have a little collection myself. I definitely want to add more cups to the collection.

Have a wonderful weekend, my friends!

Random Thursday. DIY project.

Hallo meine Lieben,

how is your week going? We're having some interesting weather here in Ohio...lots of rain, storms, sometimes even sunshine.
It's time for another Random Thursday with these girls.

And this is the topic.

The thing is that I love DIY projects but haven't taken the time to do anything in months (except of some drawing and painting). It is a shame because there was a time when I did something creative at least each week. So yeah, it kind of makes me sad that I don't find the time to do more of the things I enjoy right  now. I know that I should take the time but there are always "more important" things to do which just isn't right because the things I enjoy should be the most important things to do. Well, I don't want to go on about this so instead I will share an idea for a DIY project with you.

My DIY book shelf idea.

I built a book shelf probably 10 years ago and I really enjoy that kind of work so I want more! You need some wine boxes, similar to this one. I would say 12 should do it.

Then you paint the bottom of of each wine box in any color you like. I would probably use 2 different colors. Probably a dark grey and white.
Then you arrange the boxes the way you want the book shelf to look at the end.  I think I would use 4 as the bottom, then 3 for the next row and then another row of 4 and then 2 on the top. Which shows me that I need 1 more box. So you need 13 boxes.
Then you need a hammer and some nails to but all the boxes together.
And in the end it should look similar to this, but without the TV in the middle.

As you can see, I am in desperate need for some more book shelves.
This is my next project. What's yours?

Oh, and I am still working on the scarf I started months ago. Maybe I can finish it until autumn.

Have a wonderful Thursday!

Ten On Tuesday. Ice cream, cupcakes and lots of cuteness.

Hallo meine Lieben,

it's time for another Ten On Tuesday post so here we go.

1. I am so thankful for my kitties....they are so wonderful and always make me feel good. Thank you guys for all the lovely birthday wishes yesterday!

2. My mean word of the week is "laugh" because it is just a really stupid word.

3. I barely drink coffee right now and I don't know why. I guess I am just really obsessed with tea right now. I have been drinking lots of coconut and pineapple tea lately. And my Irish breakfast tea of course.

4. My food addictions include watermelon and some weird vegan cookies that you always get when you order a coffee in Germany.

5. Have you ever tried any vegan ice cream in America? Which one is the best?

6. Another book shelf which is not very practical but awesome.

7. I am in love with our neighbor's cat. He looks so smart and wise and I adore him.

8. Started to watch a new show and I am hooked. It is called "Family tree" and Chris O'Dowd is in it. Enough reason to love that show.

9. I really want to get into baking again. It is such a relaxing thing to do and in the end you have some yummy awesomeness to eat (well, in the best case scenario). I think I'll start with these coconut kiwi cupcakes.

10. And now I am hungry and need to find something to eat. I think I have eaten broccoli every day for the past two weeks. Is that weird? I don't think so. I really really like broccoli in all variations.

Have a wonderful Tuesday!

Five things.

Hallo meine Lieben,

I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend! I am dog sitting right now which is lots of fun. I might think about not giving the dog back tomorrow...we will see.

Please go over to my friend Celeste's blog The Good Girl to check out her Five Things.

1. This dog.

Isn't she adorable? She arrived here Friday and will stay until Sunday. She is such a sweetheart and I am having so much fun with her.

2. This necklace.

I am really into jewelry right now. A necklace makes every outfit look so much better. I have some pieces I really love to wear but I also want to add some special things to my collection. Flea markets are one of my favorite spots to find beautiful jewelry.

3. Flea markets.

My favorite way to spend a Sunday. I can't even tell you how many wonderful things I have found at flea markets...jewelry, old paintings, tea pots from the 60's, books... I never leave empty-handed.

4. Vegan raw almond joy fudge.

Coconut, almond and chocolate? Wow, this looks so delicious! I want to try this recipe as soon as possible.

5. This book.

"The fault in our stars" by John Green. I started to read it yesterday and I am almost half-way through. I would have already finished it but I am trying to take it slowly because I don't want it to end already. I don't know if that makes sense. But I am really loving it a lot. It is about love and death and life and absolutely beautiful.
I also got very excited yesterday when I found out that a new crime novel by Jussi Adler Olsen will get published on October 1. Yay.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Random Thursday. My summer plans.

Hallo meine Lieben,

I hope you are having a wonderful Thursday! Happy Independence  Day to all my American friends! Enjoy the holiday!

It's time for another Random Thursday post.

And this is the topic.

Well, summer will be a little busy but there are some things I want to do in my free time...For example...

1. Celebrate my birthday.

July is my birthday month and birthdays need to be celebrated. Luckily my birthday is on a Saturday this year which gives us time to celebrate. I am not sure what exactly we will do but what I know for sure is that we will go to a concert in the evening and will spend the Sunday afterwards with David's family.

2. Reading.

I got so many new books and now I just need to find some time to read all of them. So I am planning on spending lots of time outside burying my nose in some good books.

3. Be outdoors.

Being in the nature always makes me feel good so I am hoping to see some nice places outdoors, do some hiking and biking.

4. Be creative.

I did not really take much time to be creative lately so I definitely want to change this. It makes me happy so I should do it more often.

5. Be happy.

That is always a good thing to do or try. I just want to dedicate as much time as I can to things that make me happy. Sounds like a plan. Not just for summer.

6. Try some new recipes.

I got this cooking book a while ago, the recipes look delicious but I haven't tried one of them yet. I need to change that.

What are your summer plans? I hope you are all having a wonderful time!

Ten On Tuesday. Vinegar, groundhogs and Chandler Bing.

Hallo meine Lieben,

time for another Ten On Tuesday post!

1. My current food addiction is all natural vinegar and salt chips. I love how sour they are. I have a weakness for anything sour or bitter.

2. Which brings me to the mean English word of the week: vinegar. Trust me, I always say it wrong.

3. I think David is in love with Charley Boorman. Which is totally cool because that guy rocks. I can't get enough of his travel documentaries.

4. Yesterday I saw my first groundhog in reality and I got very excited. I have also seen several little bunnies. This all happened during a hike and made me totally happy. The groundhogs were too fast to take a picture but I was able to snap one of a bunny.

5. I will never understand why people buy eggs from hens that have to live in cages. I mean, don't people know how these cages look? That the hens can't even turn around in there. That "life" is hell for these hens? I guess people don't think about this.

6. July is my birthday month.

7.  I really need to watch Friends again. For the 36th time.

8. When I think about it...Chandler Bing would be a great name for a pet.

9. Watching Friends in German in horrible. The voices sound weird plus they screwed up so many jokes.

10. I am really happy that I started exercising again. I feel so much better. I just needed to get new running shoes and two very bright running outfits to get motivated.

Have a wonderful day!
