Ten On Tuesday. German patriotism, goat vs. cat and oatmeal.

Hallo meine Lieben,

how is your week going? I finally got rid of my cold which is pretty nice.

It's time for this.

Number 1.

I found a very interesting article on Alex' blog (You should all check out her Stamp of approval Saturday, by the way. It rocks). Mariella is a well-traveled German who wrote an article about "Being German and the issue of patriotism". You can find it on her blog Bridge Keeping Traveler. I love her article, I can totally relate to it. There is an issue with being German and patriotism. Germans are very hesitant to say that they are proud of their country. It is something you just don't do because people could take it the wrong way. Okay, I admit that there is one exception. You can be proud to be a German during the soccer world cup. There are flags everywhere....but except of that you learned to be a little careful in expressing your feelings for your country.

Number 2.

This heartbreaking story shows me again how smart animals are and how cruel human beings can be.

Number 3.

I really really love my iPad mini!

Number 4.

Well, goat vs. cat looks pretty much like bunny vs. cat.

Number 5.

I really really need a new haircut.  I am talking about this for weeks but I think I finally need to do it. Probably next week. I don't want to look into the mirror anymore.

Number 6.

I am so obsessed with "Bones" at the moment that I haven't watched anything else in the last couple of days. Not even The Mentalist or Girls.

Number 7.

I love boots and scarves and hats and gloves...but I am ready for warmer weather. It's time. I want to wear ballerinas!

Number 8.

Do you listen to podcasts? If so, do you have any recommendations? I would like to start listen to one but I haven't found the right one for me yet.

Number 9.

My newest food addiction is oatmeal with vanilla soy milk and cinnamon. I wonder what will be the next one.

Number 10.

I apologize for being so uncreative today. I will do better, I promise. It's just a pretty busy day.

Have a lovely Tuesday!

  1. You're also allowed to be patriotic when it has anything to do with beer/Oktoberfest! I actually went to prom with a German exchange students and we had a conversation pretty much exactly about that. It was fascinating.

  3. Personally I love Germany, the past is tragic but thankfully long over. I think the saying goes whenever you point a finger you have three pointing back at yourself.

    1. Yeah, that is true! Almost every country did something bad in history, we should concentrate on not making any mistakes again!

  5. I'm so happy to hear your cold is finally gone!
The cat / goat video made me laugh :)
But I can hardly put in words what the bear story did to me. This is so sad, it made me sick to read what they are doing to those bears for 20 years!? Oh my. How on earth can human beings be so cruel? I just don't get it.
Yes, please, spring can finally start. I'm all ready for it.
Have a wonderful week, sweet Katrin.
    Ich drücke Dich ganz fest.

    1. Thanks, sweetie!
The cat and the goat are really cute.
And I agree, I don't know how people can do things like that. It is so terrible. Some people are a nightmare, it makes me so sad and angry and I don't know what!
Have a great day! Ich drueck Dich!

  7. Yay for a mini iPad! My MIL's been telling me to watch Bones but I havent gotten around to it yet. Is it really that good? Maybe I'll check it out on Netflix this afternoon. Also, dont worry, you're not missing much in the GIRLS department...that shows going downhill fast.

Take CA's warm weather! It was about 80 degrees yesterday and today's supposed to be in the high 90s...no! I hate the heat.

    1. Bones is really good. You should check it out, I am sure you would like it too. The characters are pretty cool and the cases always fascinating!
Hmm, I am sad to hear about this! Still need to catch up and see how bad it is!
Oh, that sounds much better. Although I have to say that I am not a fan of a huge heat either. Warm spring weather is fine for me!

  10. #2 made me cry and cry. I hate how terrible people are to animals. :( :(

That's sad that you can't be proud of being German because people take it wrong. I do understand it but it's still a bummer.

Maybe this will change at some point, I don't know. Hard to be a German. Haha.
