Random Thursday. Beat the heat tips. + World Cat Day!

Hallo meine Lieben,

first of all: today is World Cat Day so please give all the cats an extra big hug today!

I hope you are having a wonderful week. It's time for some Random Thursday.

And here is this week's topic.

Well, it is raining here in Ohio right now so there is not so much of a heat to beat.  Plus I really have to say that I always tend to be cold. Even when it is really hot outside, I start freezing inside because of the air conditioning. So I always wear a warm sweater and warm socks in the house. I guess I am just not used to all the air conditioning here in America. So I am definitely not an expert to give advice about how to beat the heat because I always try to stay warm.

I also have to say that I wear a sweater when I go outside even when most people wear shorts and tops and complain about the heat. Plus I need to take a coat when I go grocery shopping because the stores are always so cold. Yeah, I know, I sound strange.

But there are some tips I have.

Number One.

Make sure to drink enough. It is very important to stay hydrated, especially in the heat. I always try to drink as much as I can.
Also, it is good to drink hot tea in the heat. Sounds strange but makes sense. If you drink ice-cold water then your body has to warm up to water so that is has body temperature. And that takes energy.

Number Two.

Eat lots of water melon. And other fruits. That always gives me energy and makes me feel good.

Number Three.

Always carry a hand fan with you. It will help you to cool down and look fantastic.

Again, I am sorry that I can't help you here but I am really not an expert. I hope you can all stay cool and have a great summer!

  4. Hi there!

I think water and tea, hot or lukewarm, are the best drinks for a hot day. And as you said watermelon is great, too.

I usually have licht clothes on. I like Summer dresses, skirts and tops.

And, I close the curtains so that it's almost dark inside (so the heat of the sun won't come Insider) as we only have air conditioning in bigger shops here in Germany.

And because of the heat and the air conditioning last Friday, I got a sore throat and nose, just great for Summer.

Have a great world cat day and weekend!

    1. Hi Franziska,
I am glad that I am not the only one who drinks warm or hot tea in summer.
I usually wear several layers so that I can take off my cardigan when it gets too warm.
Here in America you don't really need the curtain but I did the same in Germany. I am really not a huge fan of air conditioning though because I start to freeze. And I also get sick like you! Hope you feel better!
      Have a great time!

  6. My dad always says you should drink tea when it's hot because it makes you sweat and that cools you down. He also says you should put cold water on your wrists... apparantly that cools you down more effectively than putting water anywhere else, but I'm not sure how.

My advice for keeping cool would probably involve icecream ;-) Also, make sure you wear a hat when out in the sun.

    1. Yeah, I think your Dad is right. I have read the same thing! And I have tried the wrist thing too. It definitely works! I am not sure why though. I need to look that up!

Oh yes, I love ice cream! :) And a hat really is important because I get a sunburn easily!

  9. oh I too get cold during summer. Sometimes its just too cool for me. I'm in California and the heat is pretty up there but when I step into a room I immediately get cold.

    1. Yeah, I absolutely know what you mean. It is usually too cold for me in the buildings so I have to take a cardigan or even a scarf with me.

  13. My number one tip to beat the heat, especially in Florida!!! - Take a dip in the pool. :)

  14. they're good advices. I read that you shouldn't wear dark colors in the heat/summer because dark colors attracts bugs/insects, so I try to wear light colors to keep from getting bitten.

I'm like you, I find myself wearing long-sleeves at all times because of the stores/offices and their high air conditioner temperature. although, it is a relief sometimes to go inside an air conditioned place when you've been out in the heat too long.

hope you have a sweet day.

    1. I think the dark clothes also heats you up a lot faster. Like black cars. And I think you should also avoid yellow clothes because of the bugs!

I really need long sleeves when I go somewhere with air conditioning. I just can't sit in a cool room all the time without freezing. I am glad that I am not the only one who feels like that!

      Have a lovely evening!
