everything is pretty crazy here at the moment. Yesterday around 5 p.m. a bad storm hit our town in Ohio. A lot of trees fell down and we lost power. It is still not back yet and they say it can take a couple of days. Yay. How nice. I have never experienced anything like that before. I have never been without power for a couple of days. A couple of hours, yes. But this is so crazy. I am glad we got some candles in the house so I was able to spend the night reading a book. But it is hard to be without an internet connection. Haha. I think the worst thing for David is that the air conditioning doesn't work and it's pretty hot in the house.
We escaped to David's parents this afternoon to rescue all our frozen food. :) And to cook a warm meal. It was so wonderful because I did not have any real food for 24 hours. Yesterday we had grapes and salt pretzels for dinner. Nice.
So, I really don't know when the power will be back so you won't hear that much from me in the next couple of days. I will miss you a lot guys. :) But I hope the power will be back soon!
Now I want to show you some pictures so that you are able to get an impression of what happened here.
That's a little scary! We have a huge tree in front of our house but fortunately only a couple of branches fell down.
The whole tree got uprooted. That happened to a lot of trees. So sad.
It looks like that on every street so they have a lot to fix.
Poor stop sign!
That car got lucky. It doesn't have have a scratch.
Trees all over the place.
Okay, I hope you guys are all safe and have a great weekend! I hope the power will be back soon. See you!
Oh no!! Good luck, I hope it all gets taken care of soon!
ReplyDeleteThanks, dear!
DeleteOh gosh! I am glad you are safe. It must be crazy to see trees uprooted all over the place!
ReplyDeleteYeah, it really is crazy! And I have never been without power for that long. I am so glad nobody got hurt.
Deleteooooo thats bad!wind can do so much damage! we have been pretty lucky but some parts have been flooded. bad news :(
ReplyDeleteGlad you were lucky! They say it will take at least 5-7 days to get the power back. Nice.
DeleteBeing without power for a few days definitely sucks. Last summer, a tree fell and tore the power line in front of our house down, ripping down our power mast with it, so I know what that's like! I hope you get power soon!

Oh no! How long have you been without power?
DeleteI would be okay for 2 or 3 days....but 8 or 9 days? That's really bad!
Well, it was only 4 days, but I just realized it was actually before summer last year that it happened. It got so cold in our house at night that we couldn't stay! Luckily we had family who lived just an hour away so it was kind of a great excuse to visit for a few days. :]
DeleteOh no, it must have been terrible in a cold house! I am so sorry!
DeleteI hope it won't take 8 days here!
Oh my goodness, Katrin! I hope you guys stay safe. We used to have a lot of these things happen in Fiji, a little too often because we got used to it! It's difficult without electricity but it's even harder without water! I hope you and David can find fun things to do whilst there's no power. Thinking of you xoxoxo
ReplyDeleteThank you, Vanisha! We spent the night at my parents-in-law and we will go and check on our house later today. I am sorry that things like that happened to you too! I am glad we have water! :)
DeleteI am thinking of you!!
Hi Katrin,
It's crazy that actually that the night after that happened in Ohio, I was in Günzburg and a storm picked up almost out of nowhere. We had decided to go inside from outdoor seating since it looked like it might rain and within a couple minutes the table we had been at blew over and it was pouring down rain. The next day we were driving around the area and saw trees that looked just like that one knocked over from the root.
ReplyDeleteYeah, my Dad told me that there were a couple of bad storms in Germany too. People even died, so terrible. They got pretty lucky in Saarland because they only had some thunderstorms and strong winds but it was worse in other parts of Germany! I am sorry that you were so unlucky too! Glad you are safe!
