Sunday confessions! And happy American Father's Day!

Meine Lieben,

it is Sunday which means it's time to link up with sweet and fabulous Alyx from Every day is a new adventure! Confessions time!

But first of all: Happy American Father's Day to my Papa! He is lucky because now he can celebrate Father's Day twice a year! The German one in May and the American one in June. Woohoo!

My Papa is the best Dad in the world. There are many reasons why. I can tell you a couple of them.

He is always there for me and supports me all the time. We are a great team. After my Mama's death he tried to be Mom and Dad for me. He goes shopping with me and always picks out the greatest clothes for me. He gives me beauty advice. He always listens to my stories. He tells me when I talk crap. He buys shoes for me. He tells me to shut up when I talk too much. He smoked a cigar with me on my 19th birthday and got really sick. He makes me laugh. He loves my friends. He is always patient even when I spend 2 hours at Zara. He loves animals. He listens to my fashion advice. He drives two hours to a Lush store with me just because I want to buy a hand cream. He is funny. He is loving and caring. He eats a whole cake in 2 days just because I made it.
He is the best Dad anyone could ever wish for. I love you and I miss you, Papa! Thank you for everything!

Okay, my confessions.

1. I found out that I am not a good a good baker. When I bake something it either tastes good or looks good. On Friday I touched the bottom of my baking career and made something that neither tastes good nor looks good. I am devastated. I wanted to make banana-vanilla-muffins but it looks like I wanted to make paving blocks. They look weird, they are sticky and taste bitter. David says they are good but he is my husband so he has to say that.

2. On Friday I went to a gas station and got gas. That doesn't sound very exciting but I never got gas at an American gas station before and it works completely different than German gas stations. I mean, completely. I had no idea what to do because in Germany you get gas and then go inside and pay. Here in America I had to insert cards, push many buttons and lift a handle up. And I had no idea what that means. I looked like a complete idiot because I had no idea what to lift up and how. I am sure it was lots of fun for the other customers. Sometimes I feel really stupid as a German in America.

3. I am the leader of our little Fußball bet at the moment and I couldn't be any prouder. I know that it won't last very long but it's a good feeling. I currently have 15 points, David 12 and my Dad has 9.

4. I would love to be the helicopter pilot for the Sea Shepherd. That would be so awesome. I need a helicopter license! Where can I get that? I admire what Sea Shepherd does and I would like to be a part of it. As sad as it is but I could never go on one of these small boats because I would die. I am so scared of deep water so the helicopter would be the perfect option for me. I am sure I would be a great helicopter pilot. Do you guys watch Whale Wars?

5. I love every single animal on this planet (and all the other planets) and there is only one animal I am scared of. I don't know why but I am scared that this animal could crawl into my ear and eat my brain. It's a childhood trauma. I am talking about Riesentausendfüßer. In English giant centipedes. Don't get me wrong, I would never ever harm them. I rescue every animal I see. My husband is not allowed to kill any animal that comes into our house. Riesentausendfüßer scare me a little bit, I can't help myself.

I hope you are all having a wonderful Sunday and Father's Day!

    1. Thank you so much, Megan! You are such a sweetheart! And yeah, he is awesome! I am very thankful that he's my Dad! :)))

You hate rodents? Wow, all of them? Even cute little bunnies? :) How come? Any bad experiences?

  2. My friend used to have one of those giant centipedes as a pet (!)

If you put it onto your wrist it would just run round and round and round it like a very ticklish and shiny moving bracelet.

    Cute! (ish)

    1. That's awesome. I have never seen anybody with a centipede as a pet. Sounds like they are pretty funny. And I guess they are not dangerous. They mostly eat plants so I guess they would not try to eat me. :) The bracelet thing sounds so funny!

  3. I've lived here my whole life and still have issues with some of the gas stations.

  4. Wow, your dad sounds like an amazing person! I can`t believe he would do all these things for/with you! Sounds like a great guy and an even greater father! He totally deserves two fathers days a year ;)

Have you actually ever seen a Riesentausendfüßler? I haven´t. Looks weird, though.

I have the same thing when I bake: looks OR tastes good...why is that?!

Hope you have a great sunday!

    Cheers,

    1. He is really great! I am lucky to have him! I will tell him what you said, I am sure he'll loves that.

I have seen a Riesentausendfüßer in s store once. It was a hard ware store (Hela Baupark I think) and I was so disgusted that they even sell animals. But yeah, that was the only time I have seen one.

I really don't know what's wrong with my (and your :)) baking skills. One time I made a cake for a friend and I completely ruined it. There were only Krümel left and no cake. But at least the Krümel tasted good!

      Good night! :)

  5. bahahaha, if it helps any, I looked TOTALLY stupid the first time I bought gas in Germany. I was like, WHAT IS GOING ON?!?!? Where are all the buttons?!
Who would have thought that it could be so complicated and different!
Happy Father's Day to your dad - he sounds like a great guy.
And I'm sure your baking isn't as bad as you say it is. :)
    Thanks for linking up.

    1. Yeah, it helps, Alyx. :) I never thought that it would be so complicated and stupid! I told David that I can go alone, that it can't be so difficult etc. :)
Thank you, Alyx, I will tell my dad what you said. He is really cool. :)
Trust me, the muffins are not good. :)

  6. I wouldn't say I'm "not allowed" to kill any animal that comes in the house. More accurately, I'll give you a chance to rescue it, but if you can't manage to get a wasp outside, it's dying. :P Stinging insects are one of my biggest fears from childhood and I would happily kill them all without blinking an eye.

    1. Oh, how can you be so mean? Luckily I am always able to rescue the animals from your evilness. You would happily kill them? Honestly? Jesses...

    2. If you had stepped in a bee's nest and had a swarm of them fly into your clothes and sting you all over your body as I did when I was a child, you'd probably be afraid of them too. When there is a big wasp buzzing around my head, I feel about the same way you do at the thought of being in deep water. It's probably my biggest fear. It's ingrained in me, I can't help it. I won't kill bugs in nature if they leave me alone, but if they are in the house, they will die if you can't rescue them in a timely manner.

    3. I can totally understand and respect your fear. But a bee in our house won't kill you and saying that you would happily kill them sounds very cruel and mean to me.

  7. Awe, your dad sounds like a great father! :) It was father's day in Argentina, too, so I got to talk to mine a little bit (although he's there and he's not :/; he had a stroke years ago).

I'm a terrible baker, too! Haha. What I bake, though, looks bad and doesn't taste that hot either, hehe.

And gas stations work totally different in Argentina, too. There, you have employees who pump the gas for you, so you don't need to leave your car. Unless you have a vehicle that runs on compressed natural gas, which is most of them there (natural gas is way cheaper than gasoline).

Hope you have an awesome week, Katrin! ;D

    1. Oh Miki, I am so sorry! That must be very hard for you! :(It is hard to be so helpless...

I am sure what you bake tastes great, even when it doesn't look the way you want it to! :)

Wow, I did not know that you have cars that run on compressed natural gas in Argentina! That's pretty cool! And it's great that people pump the gas for you! It would be nice to have that in America so I would not look like an idiot! :)

      Have a great week, Miki!

  8. Haha don't feel bad about the gas thing. Once I couldn't figure out a gas pump, so I just drove to the next station instead. :) And I had to teach my boyfriend to pump gas since in Oregon, where he grew up, they don't have self service and he came to college without ever having pumped gas before!

  9. Is it a very German thing to never harm animals? I don't actually mean animals, but bugs? Because I killed a spider here once and the kids were horrified. Didn't make tha tmistake again.

    1. Yeah, I think killing a spider is a no-go in Germany. :) Most people I know rescue them. But I guess lots of Germans kill flies.
