Sunday confessions! Kitty birthday, a spider rescue and 80's cartoons!

Hallo meine Lieben,

as every Sunday I am linking up with fabulous Alyx from Every day is a new adventure!

The most important thing today:

Happy happy birthday to the most wonderful cats in the world! It is Lumpi's and Tiger's 5th birthday!!!!!!! I hope you guys liked my birthday song and aren't scared anymore, I know I can't sing, but it came from my heart! Thank you for always making me smile, for always being there for me! I can't tell you what you mean to me! I love you endlessly!!!!

1. I am addicted to corn on the cobb. I have never heard that term before but since my mother-in-law mentioned it last weekend when we escaped to their house I can't stop thinking about it. And I eat it every day, one for lunch and one for dinner. I ate the last one last night so I need to go shopping today and get more. I can't be without it. Corn on the cobb sounds weird by the way. It does not sound like food. In German it's Maiskolben.

2. The American version of the Inspector Gadget theme song is so lame. It doesn't even have lyrics. Please listen to the German version. I am sure you will have to admit that it is so much better. David won't admit it but I know that he secretly loves the German theme. This song is another ear worm. An awesome one.

3. I can't believe that Chip & Chap are called Chip & Dale in America. Why is that? Chip & Chap makes much more sense. The Alliteration makes it sound pretty awesome. I am a little obsessed with cartoons from my childhood at the moment and it is kind of sad that European cartoons aren't famous at all in America. Everybody should know Alfred Jodocus Kwak.

4. I would love to be a member of Die Gummibärenbande. I love Grumpy. When we we kids my friends and I pretended to be the bears, we jumped around all the time, drank their juice and wanted to live in a tree. It was awesome.

5. I was naked in our backyard yesterday. I took a shower in the morning and saw a little spider, he (I am pretty sure it was a guy) got wet and I was scared that he could drown so I took him and ran outside and put him in the grass so that he was able to dry. He survived and I was happy but I hope my neighbors did not see me.

(That's Thekla from Die Biene Maja)

Have a wonderful Sunday!

  1. I love 80`s cartoons. I guess everybody has that with the cartoons they grew up with. But honestly...all of them are just so SO awesome. When I look at what the kids look at today I get the creeps. Everything is so loud and fast and violent.

I used to watch chip and chap when I was in the states as a little girl. One of my favorite memories is how my sister and me found stamps of the cartoon in our cereal box :) so awesome.

Corn on the cob is one of the most delicious things on earth. period.

    :)

    1. Yeah, you are so right, Mel...the cartoons nowadays are just so stupid. I wish they would show all the old cartoons again. They were so much better. And had a message.

Haha, stamps of Chip & Chap, that's so awesome! I would like to find some now!

I just love corn on the cobb. I can't get enough! :)

  2. it's strange that you haven't heard of corn on the cob before. but then again, lots of terms are different in Europe than in America. and also, anything you can eat with your hands is probably nicer. I think.

hope you have a sweet day.

    1. Yeah, it's really weird. I mean, everybody in America uses that term and I had no idea. :) I know corn, but corn on the cobb was new for me. I love eating with my hands. :) It's so classy!

      Have a lovely day!

  3. Love the Inspector Gadget theme song, it's so fun to see the differences. And I cannot believe you went out in your backyard naked just to save a spider. Crazy girl!

  5. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO LUMPI AND TIGER!!! :D From me and Dante & Dimitri, hehe! :P It's amazing how cats (and pets in general, I suppose) can brighten up your life! I seriously cannot imagine my life without Dimitri here! I was scared to bring him with me when I moved, but now I'm so happy to have him with me. May your kitties have a wonderful birthday and year! I'm sure they're loved dearly :D.

Hahaha! The Gadget song sounds so weird to me! But that's because I'm so used to the Spanish version. I bet non-Spanish speakers would find it really stupid, hehe.

Hope you're getting ready to have an awesome week, Katrin! :D

  7. Happy Birthday Lumpi and Tiger! I hope you are having a wonderful day :)

Love, love, love corn on the cobb! It does not taste the same in Germany so I need to have it whenever I come to the States.
Chip and Chap is called Chip and Dale??? The German version definitely sounds so much better! :)
The "Gummibärenbande" was my all time favorite too. This is one of the ear worms I tend to have every once in a while.
Love your story about rescueing the spider! He/She was really lucky he/she met you! We're having the really big fat ones in our windows all summer long - and I'm thankful to them for catching all the mosquitos. But I do not need them to come inside though...;)

    I hope you're having a wonderful Sunday!

    1. Thank you so much, Beate!

Yeah, they are really called like that and I have no idea why. Chip & Chap sounds so much cooler and cuter.

Haha, I am sure the really big spiders can be a little scary! When there are big ones in the house I usually don't catch them with my hands but use a glass or bowl and then carry them outside.

      Have a wonderful week, lovely!

  8. my grandmother was born in Germany and she used to love corn too - she would always talk about how when she was a kid in Germany they never ate corn because they considered it food for animals. I dunno if that was just the part of Germany where she grew up, or just because it was during WWII or what, but she said she had never eaten it until she came to the US with my grandfather.
corn on the cob is delicious though, I just bought some at the market today!

    1. I bought some more too! To be honest, I bought 10. Just for me. Haha.
I think corn on the cobb is much more famous in America than it is in Germany but I think a lot of people started to eat it too here. I guess years ago it was mostly food for the animals. But hey, it is so delicious, I am glad the animals share it with me!

    2. my grandma is from a really small town called Lampertheim, which is where some of my relatives still live. I also have family who live in Frankfurt and Ulm so I got to visit all three places and Munich when I was there. Germany is awesome! I can't wait to go back -- Berlin is definitely on my bucket list of cities to visit.

    3. I looked up Lampertheim and it is not very far away from my hometown! That's pretty cool! It is so great that you got to see different places in Germany and that you like it so much! Berlin is such a great city and I hope you can visit it as soon as possible!!

  9. I´m glad you found something you can eat twice a day until you get sick of it :D Corn on the cobb is good, I like it, too! I recently have been eating wraps with onions (röstzwiebeln), blue cheese, salad and balsamico every day...soooo good!

How do you know your cats exact birthday? Were you there when they were born? I´ve always wanted to have baby kittens! Brad sais that can never happen though, because I will die of a heartattac, caused by cuteness overload. He`s probably right.

Hope you have a great week!

    1. Haha, yeah I hope I won't get sick of it too soon, I bought 10 more yesterday! Wraps are great but Röstzwiebeln? Brr... :)

I got the cats from my former landlord's brother. He "wanted to get rid" of them (whatever that means) so I said I'd take them before he gives them to the shelter or even worse. So I rescued them from the mean owner. I wasn't there when they were born though. They were 10-12 weeks old and really tiny and cute. I almost died because of a heart attack because I was so worried about them all the time. And because of all the cuteness. :)

      Have a wonderful week!

  10. Hahaha, I think you are the only person I know who would rescue a spider!!
And yes - the german Inspector Gadget theme song is WAY better than the American one.
    Thanks for linking up!

  11. We don't call it corn on the cob in Fiji either. I think we just say corn. But isn't it delicious! And how lucky you are to have them twice a day. I laughed so hard about the spider - I'm glad you're both okay! xoxox

    1. We also just say corn. Much easier! I had two for dinner yesterday. So delicious!
I am glad I was able to make you laugh! :))

  12. I never got the Chip and Dale thing too. In Brazil they are called Tico and Teco, which is fun to say. Being a Disney maniac, I'll have to look up while that poor thing is named Dale. Not a kid-friendly name!

    1. No, it really sounds weird. I don't know why they use that name! Tico & Teco sounds very cute!

  13. You actually picked up a spider with your bare hands & took it outside? You're nuts. I'm so afraid of spiders. I know it's awful but I probably would've washed it down the drain :/

    1. Yeah, I always pick them up with my bare hands and bring them outside. :) They don't bite.

  15. So funny! I was a big fan of Die Gummibärenbande, too! But do you still remember the times when Chip and Chap were called A-Hörnchen und B-Hörnchen - or am I really that old? ;-)
So, have you neighbors been suspiciously friendly to you in the last few days? ;-)
